Actually that totally explains it. Gen 3 is the front-line, that's why you see all the competitive "discussion".

Ever gone to a junkyard looking for 1st gen parts? These sales mean the 3rd gen shouldn't be an issue in 20-30 years.

That sounds asinine...uhuhuhuhu let’s bring up Ranger everyday on Tacoma World o_O ...wtf on Ford forums they don’t “discussion” the Ranger as much here. Truth be told I think a lot of driving a Tacoma is hey look at me I got the cool truck, best selling, best blah blah blah... so when something else is threatening it turns to self reassuring uh hey I still have the cool truck right:D the whole point is who gives a flying F what sells more if YOU like it rock it.

This...right there, that’s why so much attention is given to other brands on TW. The need/desire to feel like you’re the top of the food chain (even when you’re only talking about a Fn truck) is what keeps Taco guys with one eye on their Taco and one on the competition, which is a really nice visual...imagine that lazy eyed F’r :D

Might be getting too old for this.
I actually wish Toyota would start to feel more pressure. I feel it's the best push for them innovate more.

You shouldn't take things posted on the interwebs so personally, even if you're a Ford fan. :angrygirl:

In 1991 I took out a $4000 loan to buy a used Corolla. Upon paying off that loan I promised myself never again, and I have kept that promise. I can’t fathom what these young men and women are up against financing $40,000 vehicles on an income from the gig economy. A few points of rise on the interest rates and Instagram is going to have a lot less lifted Tacos on display.

    I agree with you.
Sadly, perpetuity seem totally misunderstood in todays buyers market place.

Pay cash, drive what you like as long as you can, drive something that can be serviced locally and don't even bother with what someone else says about it. 2 chevys (K20, K10) 2 Ford 150's, one Dodge 1500, one current Taco and a collection of Jeeps, all used until impractical and then the next. I used to drive 40-55K a year travelling the Rocky Mt states, didn't get too attached to most of them.

Money is cheap to borrow these days - its foolish to buy in cash.

Cash for anything that depreciates, borrowed money for growth assets (land, houses, investments). If you can't pay cash, you can't afford it.
