So i had a fender bender in a parking lot a few weeks ago. I was doing 12mph in the lot, looking for a spot, when a coworker backed into me.

Long story short, their insurance company totaled the truck. 6 thousand dollars of damage. Left fender, fender rail, tire, radiator, bumper, grill, etc.

So, I bought it back and am going to learn how to do body work.

Pics coming soon. I'm on a cellphone and it's a pain to type on.

Good on you for fixing it! I sure would hate to see those sliders end up in the scrapper. ;)

Doesn't look too bad at all, hopefully it's all just cosmetic body stuff...highly doubt anything happened with the frame at 12mph.

I had to replace a crunched fender earlier this year, be forewarned that while Toyota does still sell body parts for our trucks, they are $$$$

I ended up getting an aftermarket fender for about $100, and the fit isn't perfect. Mostly the hood gap is bigger on that side than the other now. Bought some OEM colored paint off Amazon and it matched perfectly.

Really just looks like you need a fender, hood and front bumper + headlight mostly?

If I had been more patient back then I would have taken more time to find a used OEM fender, but finding one in the right color for a decent price (and in good shape) was sorta difficult, so I just bought an aftermarket one.

Also if buying aftermarket body parts, look for CAPA certified ones. They are usually better quality and fit than the non-CAPA certified.

A few additions to make me feel cool.
That's an easy weekend repair. Source a truck to rob the panels off of and you might need the radiator core support. You can remove the damaged stuff and bolt on all the new in an afternoon. Good luck, try and source OEM sheet metal at a salvage yard.

Throw a 2k paint job on it and you will come out ahead.

Don't be afraid to grab the whole front clip if you find anything through 2004 and you could update it a little.

This is much more than simple sheetmetal repair. The inner fender rail is tacod, hard.

I am going to drill out the spot welds and get on it. More pics to come.

After that weekend, had to cut off the bumper and remove the fender so I could steer.

@OP: I had an accident driving in the rain back in February. My front end damage include the right front fender and front bumper. I was fortunate to have had a cheap bull bar installed on the truck when I made contact with the cement barrier on the right side of the road and it saved the other half of the truck's front end. I'm guessing that you will probably install a stock OEM front bumper. I decided to buy an ARB bull bar instead and had the body shop install it along with the body repairs. Something to think about, if you have the budget for it. Good luck with your body work repairs.

A truck that old does not need much to have the insurance company total the vehicle

07 F150, as I recall. And yes, that appears to be exactly what he did.

Core support number? No idea. It's a 97 4x4 ,3.4l x-cab manual. So it has the sealed beams instead of the composite headlights, so the fenders and hood are different, as is the core support.

Damn every time I see an ARB bull bar on a first gen it reminds me of how classic and protective it looks. Nice taco, hombre
