Wednesday I was driving to work and some guy in the lane next to me decided he was going to try to go around me as I was changing lanes. He sideswiped my front passenger door now it's got a huge dent init. I can't even roll down my window all the way. Any ideas how to fix it aside from the dealership.

Here are pics of the damage: http://imgur.com/a/ppsIN0z

Guy claims he was directly parallel with my truck when we made contact, but look at the damage and give me your opinions.

I know right, that damage is from at least a 30-45 degree angle. I think as I got into the next lane over to go round the jammed traffic since i was stranded in the intersection he was turning off the intersecting road when i was part way through the intersection. But he was driving a company truck so likely could not have the accident be his fault else He'd get fired.

    UPDATE:

So, I took my truck to the shop today and they don't know how long it's going to take to get the door fixed because they got to replace the whole door. Also, Geico lied when they said I could get a rental for $25 a day. I got to Enterprise and they're like '$200 deposit and you'll have to pay for the entire rental time in advance since you do not have rental insurance on your policy.' Suffice it to say i will never use enterprise. On the plus side they will be replacing the running board too since it was damaged in the crash. There is also a tiny dent caused when I opened the rear passenger door they will fix. Likely gonna cost $2000-$3000 to do all the work and get all the parts. Luckily it is just $500 out of pocket. Unfortunately that means i get shorter paychecks cause I had to pull a loan for that $500 from the security company I work for which will be repaid $50/wk.

    It's complicated.
I dropped geico ~5 years ago, when I discovered that they had removed my comprehensive coverage, without my knowledge or permission--and raised my rate approx $39 per 6 months. I noticed it 3 months after my renewal, which had the coverage at the beginning of the new policy period.

I've read many complaints about geico doing the very same thing across the country. I imagine there are many people driving around not knowing that their coverage isn't what they think it is.

They claim I was at fault too. Geico is paying it all cept $500 (my deductible), it is a $1998 fix so I was almost right on the dot with my own estimate of $2000. But yours does not look so bad Hyuga. They had to find different running boards for mine cause they are discontinued, curious to see what they picked. But they say they only spent like $950 in parts, so they must be using salvaged or 'refurbished' parts for the door.

    The Repair Estimate.

What do you think, refurbished/salvaged parts or new parts?

Mine is $1960 now. Guess they found cheaper paint or needed less cause that is the only thing that dropped in price on the quote. Will get it back by Wed.

Now they are saying that they need to order the running boards and delivery will take 5-7 days. I am tempted to say "just do the door, give me my truck, and call me when the running boards arrive" I am tired of Uber, so expensive. Not to mention I need my truck to get to an outta town site Wednesday.

    UPDATE 15 OCT:
Apparently there was damage to the rocker panel, so now the total is up to $2050 and i am carless for another week.

I got mine too, new door, new rocker, new running boards, and dent removed from back passenger door. It was supposed to be done Monday, but they changed it to Wednesday. I rented a 2019 Tacoma SR5, nice truck, but only though Monday. Cost me $460 (5 day rental=$310, sec dep=$150), and now I gotta hope they finish it early cause 2 more days is another $110. Total price they are showing is $2425 ($500 on my part). By the time I get it back if schedule remains same, they will have had it 2wk. I want it back darnit, I am most definitely asking for a total breakdown including of the purchased parts, I wanna know what took 2wk :/

    Woohoo

They were saying Tuesday (3wk) but I hounded them for info and reasoning. They say that they had to wait for approval for another repair on my truck. Further now they have told me exactly where it is in the process.

Hello Sam, the truck is in the paint process, there was additional damage forund and we did a supplement and had to wait for approval to continue which we received on 10/21. We are doing our best to get the truck to you on Friday. We will call you as soon as it comes out of clean-up. Have a great day.

Soo happy, was bout to max out my CC.

Finally got it back. Looks brand new. Will upload pics later. But now got a new problem. They somehow managed to unravel or cut the thread on the rear driver seat.

are body shops able to mimic the rock guard texture on the bottom portion of the tacomas. I'm curious. Did you get yours fixed?
