    Hi all,

about to do my first big self done maintenance item on my car. (2002 Tacoma 4WD). I bought some Autozone axles.

Since this is the first time doing this, are there any pieces off the old axle that I’ll need to take off and include in my new axle before installing? Or any tips that you’d recommend?

I saw a bunch of guides on axle replacements, but none as nooby as mine, so I thought I’d ask.

One thing I’m curios about is the axle seals. Do you all recommend I replace those too? I’d like to avoid if if I can, as I don’t want to damage anything else. But if you strongly recommend, are the driver and passenger side seals the same ? Autozone claims to only have the driver side: https://m.autozone.com/drivetrain/cv-axle-seal/duralast-cv-axle-seal-710596/247537_7293_32155?aqs=

There are no parts on the axle you need to swap.

I did not replace the seals but if yours are leaking before now is the time

Actually don’t quote me on that, I don’t recall. It’s been a while.

Autozone should have a set you can rent. It’s either 35 or 36. My money is on 35.
