    Left is most likely given that all the legit sites like Autozone are showing the right one.

    That also said, it's not uncommon to have both retail (right) and wholesale (left) packaging for some automotive parts - especially those where the manufacturer likely sells the part under several names and under the OEM tag. The outer shell piece isn't an indication of fake or real and will have little impact on the functionality of the sensor.

    inconsistent coloring, small/few holes, more exposed wiring. Also the box on the right doesn't seem like an OEM box.

    But it's just a guess.

    So you are saying the sensor on left is fake. But you may get a genuine Denso in a box like the left.?

    If you search the part number, Autozone shows a part that looks like the right and parts are more regularly coming in commercial packaging (also right) at places like that where a customer is buying them. The packaging on the left is also common and may be old or may be for a wholesaler to sell to shops to keep on hand.

    All I'm saying is that it's possible they're both real but the right side one is either a great fake or more likely real.

    Right is a flake, not fake. Haha. Denso should have 4 - 4 vertical hole, not 4 - 2 vertical hole.

    Does anybody know WTF Denso fuel/air sensor is SUPPOSED to be for a 99 2.7? I believe I have been duped on EBay. I heard that 99 is tricky and two different sensors were used. I really would love to know what belongs in this friggen thing.

    99 does not have an air/fuel ratio sensor - just O2 sensors.

    No difference for upstream (for the downstream sensor, YES there is a difference). See below. Upstream for the 2WD 2.7L is the same for either OE Style or their Universal. I would go with the OE style P/N. So, grab it from:
    $51 Denso 234-4162 Oxygen Sensor with 4-Wire 10.5” Harness for Non-California, Non-4WD Lexus/Toyota

    I just went down to my local Pep Boys to get a Denso sensor for my truck, pretty sure you're not likely to buy a fake from an auto parts store. Online is where I'd be worried (unless buying directly from a dealer parts dept.)
