Picked up my 27F AGM from Batteries Plus next to South Center today, and the customer service was unusual, in a good way. The tech, Aaron, was an encyclopedia of information. He even got excited explaining how NorthStar manufactures their AGMs, among other things. Kid knew his stuff.

Would you avoid a Toyota with rust like this? On a Lexus I looked at.A594E115-7CA2-40D3-9502-9101C64605C9.jpgCD978FAB-A7B8-4441-B7FD-137DC1724454.jpg

It’s only 6 years old but it spent the last 6 years in Massachusetts, according to Carfax. I already made up my mind, I’m not buying it. Just want to know if I’m being irrational thinking that’s too much rust.

Would depend on the price for me. None of that looks bad. Seen worse here in WA.

But what about longevity? Plan to probably have it for 6+ years. It’s just going to get worse.

Wash it, wire brush the worst areas, spray paint with a rust converter spray paint, fluid film it after if you really want. Check it every year or so and do that again to any problem spots missed the first time.

@JimSnell , I would have waited, but I'm headed to Boston for a couple weeks, and didn't want to hold everyone up.

@navytacoma @Tayoflor take Jim up on his offer. Doing this caveman style was a pain in the arse.

... that being said, I'm done now and it's time for a test drive.

Bringing up another "I'd probably not get T/A KO2 again" post. 2 weeks ago I went to Discount for a rebalance and rotation since it had been close to 10,000 miles. Tires have 7/16th to 8/16th tread left, so just about 50% worn. Tech said he touched up the balance a bit as it was off a little.

Tonight I was doing a little checking under the truck (front brake pads) and I rolled to the back of the truck to look around. I looked at the left rear wheel and said "What the hell?!?"

    IMG_1491.jpg

I've known I've had one tire that needed more weight that typical, but 35 stickies for 8.75oz????

    :annoyed:
