My client manages for them and other birds. A lot of waterfowl hunting on the site, but I do not believe there is a crane season in California. They are hunted in other states though. Farmers get paid to flood their fields certain times a year that they normally wouldn't, which creates popup wetland habitat for water birds and for hunting. Win-win. I'm doing a study comparing differences in waterbird use (species, densities, etc) per field type, water depth, etc..

 

We'll obviously need pics of this.
