So here's the funny thing. Our 1972 Chrysler Town & Country station wagon had all those back end features. Dual action tailgate, under floor storage, but you could lift it up for 3rd row (back facing) seating. It did have an immovable roof though, but the glass in the tail gate would drop into the tailgate. The full size spare stood up to the side behind a cover, easy to access when loaded up.

interesting note about the ridgeline - that seam where the bed meets the cab - it's just a stamped body line, they are one. The bed is not a separate bed.

Taco would have to keep a spare donut in the rear quarter to be able to do the under floor stuff.
    Like your Taco me do.

Well, we already know you don't like to do maintenance, whatelse? Pretty sure if you got a ridgeline you would still have a bucket of rust by now.

Yeah he gets a sweet lease deal on any Honda/Acura. Although it gets old because he has to turn them in every year whether he wants to or not. But it's better now than before when he had to swap every 6 months.

If you test the departure angle would the cute little trunk still be as big or would it become mashed in and small?

Ridgeline sounds like a nice way of saying “taint”. Like, it’s hot out and I’ve got an itchy ridgeline.

    Anyone,....anyone...

What’s the draw to the tailgate swinging down and to the side? Sure it’s neat but only time I’ve had to take the tailgate off is when unloading something heavy with a forklift and didn’t want it on the tail board.

Also the bed storage is a great idea, until you have something in the actual bed?

I see the market there targeting with it and it’s defiantly a good rig that suits a lot of people’s needs but I don’t know if I’d consider it midsize truck ?

    Honest question:
Why does it matter which way it opens? Is there a scenario in which the swing function is better than the drop function?

Yeah. I can see it being useful at times when you need to reach towards the front and drag or grab something heavy towards you. The extra two feet or so of the tailgate may prevent you. Maybe something like bags of mulch.

Oversize tire will fit. Changing flat is no harder or easier than a car or minivan.

Absolutely. When that can of tomatoes is just out of reach and you have to climb up to get it.

Personally, the Ridgeline is the best engineered truck on the road and will meet 80% of people's needs. Everyone talks shit about it's looks but newsflash... if you want good mpg ( everyone does as evidenced by the threads here ) you gotta have a slick front end. That is if it would be affordable.
I have to haul trailers and heavy stuff. Otherwise, the Ridgeline would be fine for me.

And everyone be honest here... how many people who post here goes hard core offroad? The truth is nine out of ten of you don't. Curbs at the mall don't count. Most buy because it looks tough, you know, like guys want to look tough in flannel and shit.

I think he was saying that since the spare is under that door and you had a load in the bed it would be a PITA to unload the contents on the side of the road in order to change it.
