Wondering what my options are in raising the front end of my truck. I'm trying to stay away from top plate spacers.. I'm running 886's which were supposed to be a 2" but came out to be about 1 3/4" now with an ARB bumper and skids I'm closer to 1". I've held off on a winch because I don't want it to drop anymore than it already has. The rear is quite raked as its got 3" HD dakars and airbags for when I load my heavy camper on. I'm not looking to level it but I definitely need a little more space up front that will also take the added weight of the armor. Any suggestions are welcomed and appreciated!

886 is about as beefy as they come. If you don't want to swap out to a coil over with a threaded body to set preload, and a 700# coil, you may have no choice but spacers. I believe that the 886 is around 660#. I can't remember how long it is though.

Edit: if funds are an issue, you could try bilstein 6112's which can be adjusted as well

Depending on your goals, the Fox 2.0 with a heavy spring or just get a set of fox 2.5 up front since it seems like you have some decent weight up there, and the larger body might benefit you some.

Blackfriday is right around the corner!

Are you sure you actually have 886s? Mine gave close to 3” of lift with a bumper, winch and skids.

100% certain.. when did you buy yours? I purchased mine just under a year ago and when I was purchasing them the guy at the counter said that OME had updated their stock with new heights.

You're running an ARB front bumper, skids and that camper? I'd definitely go with 887s for your application. Been a while since I've been on the forum but I think that's the 700# spring.

That's not correct. 887 is a longer 590# spring. 888 is the same spring rate but longer still. 886 is the heaviest rated.

    Here's the full chart:
    Coil specifications:
    • OME 883: 375mm in height, 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 884: 390mm in height 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 885: 395mm in height 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 886: 402mm in height 660 pound spring rate
    • OME 887: 400mm in height 590 pound spring rate
    • OME 888: 405 mm in height 590 pound spring rate

Aah yes, thanks for the correction! I had to look back at what I purchased - 886s with 700# springs.

Would anyone here advise against using a top plate spacer? How do they hold up offroad and weighed down?

I’m running an ARB up front with skids and a winch. Finally upgraded to Fox 2.5” coilovers and haven’t looked back. I had 886’s before with a spacer and it wasn’t near enough. Especially under hard braking.

I think the main worry is that at full bump your shock is now x" longer than it was, so you may not engage your bump stops and bottom out your shocks compeltely, causing damage/failure. Extended bump stops may be needed.
