I’ve got the truck jacked up for some spring cleaning and I figured I’d knock out the exhaust chop.

Where exactly is the best place to cut?

    Thanks

Mine is cut similar to this. But I get some drone.

Course, I'm not stock! lol Dumping the exhaust under the bed will change the note a bit though. But it also means you won't be crushing your exhaust tip when off-road. That's why I did it!

I just found this thread after doing some corrective fabrication after my most recent trip. I wanted to chime in to see if you guys recommend that I cut further back. I just cut off the damaged part of the tip because I figured I'd use the aft most hanger.

I often see people chop it right as the bend starts for going over the axle (looking from the rear) facing downwards towards the ground.

Yeah, I saw what Fourbanger did.

I guess my question is; what is the risk for vibration cutting it off before the last hanger? Doing the chop over the axle leaves about two-ish feet of a curved exhaust pipe off the end of the next hanger. I wanted to know if any of the folks like Fourbanger who have done this have noticed any vibration. I guess the worst time would be engine start up when the exhaust has the largest positional displacements.
