The “stealership” wants $63 for a transmission filter and one of the local auto part stores has one listed for $24.00. Which after-market trans filter brand would you guys suggest for a 2013 Tacoma TRS sport Auto V6 4x4? Thanks in advance.

I got mine from NAPA, no issues. It was right around $24. Just make sure it includes a new gasket for the transmission pan. You may need to count the bolts on your pan to make sure you get the right one (there's a 20 bolt pan and a 19 bolt pan).

    $63 is criminal!

I got mine from Napa as well.

Count the bolts like the other poster said!

They have me the wrong one the first time.

I looked for Toyota OEM on ebay a few months ago. The price their was pretty much the same as local dealer - some were even >

Another quality alternative might be Wix. O'Reilley Auto Parts carries that brand.

And please resist the urge to snug the pan bolts up just ‘one more tine’. I broke one off in the housing on my old 2000 and spent a miserable weekend.

Do you guys actually have a filter? My two Prerunners have screens that can just be cleaned with brake cleaner and reinstalled.

In this same line of advice, remember that the torque specs for the pan bolts are in INCH/lbs. Not foot/lbs. You def don't want to over torque the tranny pan bolts by a factor of 12!!!

I got this from NAPA. Good price compare to what the “stealership” has to offer. Thanks guys.

In my case I think it would’ve been ok to reuse the strainer when I dropped the pan but I replaced it anyway since I already bought one. Also replaced the pan gasket and tightened the bolts to 5 ft/lb.
