Yeah, i've noticed Air impacts have a special frequency about them that gives it just a little more edge on loosening things over cordless impacts.

 

Youre braver than I am. I'm not sure what plastics were used in the composite bed, and until I know for sure I generally have a rule of not using organic solvents anywhere near it. I'm reasonably certain that Toyota's designing engineers would be smart enough to make it resistant against nonpolars like gasoline and oil, and hopefully that makes it durable against aromatics and ketones (like acetone) as well. But I sure wouldn't want to test that out on my own truck - I even use secondary spill containment when transporting that stuff.

Holy hell there were a lot of updates here quickly. I'll see if i can access that bolt at all by jacking up the truck. If i can, i think i'll be golden.

Yeah to be 100% honest with you, Id be real hesitant to go full ugga dugga on a 2006 truck from PA like some of the guys are suggesting.. Penetrating oil, time, and a breaker bar should be all youd need

 

access will be the only issue if i cant see the bolt when i jack that side of the truck up. It looks like the fuel tank covers up that are of the frame on that side. i thougth for sure my impact would have been strong enough...oh well. try try again

 

I had to use a breaker bar to get mine loose. One was easy; one was tough. Puckered up a bit hoping I didn’t snap the bolt with the breaker bar, and alas it busted loose. I put some antisieze on the bolt before reinstalling, in case I ever had to pull it again.

 

thats a definite, anti-seize all the things for sure.

 

I had to replace my D rings that I installed a couple years ago at the front of the bed. The D Rings were rusted out. One bolt loosened easily, the other I used a breakbar. Used anti-seize on the bolts too when I reinstalled. I hope you can get your bolt out.

On a side note, I wish they made stainless steel D rings that work with the bed bolt.

Hmmm...my HK or my Milwaulkee is a hard choice too. Although they are complimentary so long as you need a .40 inch hole to tap and fasten something too.

Yeah now that I think about it you might be right. But PB is pretty thin stuff, might still work its way in there

 

Fiberglass doesn't melt.
It burns.

It will take a lot more heat than plastic before it burns.

 

Are you sure its blocked? Granted its been a while since I've been under there, but I thought I remember seeing it being well exposed.
