My gal has a 1987 Celica GTS. This is a damn nice car for being 33 years old (thanks to me, the family pit crew). I last bought a set of tires for this thing in 2009. Lucky if she puts 1000 miles a year on the car.
Anyway, I figured I'd better get a new set of tires on there thinking these BF Goodrich Traction TAs are way past their shelflife even though they look great. So I started searching the 'net.
NOBODY makes tires like these anymore except for a very few way-off brands you'll only find on Ebay or at Walmart. No thanks!
She takes 205-60R14 tires. The big guys like Michelin, Bridgestone, Good Year etc. don't even bother with 14" tires anymore.
Literally the only one who makes them from what I gather, once again, is BF Goodrich. But, I can only get them if I get a 215-60R14.
Is there that much difference in size with that one? I gotta be careful as her car sets low and those tires tuck pretty snug in the wells.
Anyways, finding it hard to believe how nobody seems to carry her tire anymore. I'm sure there are a LOT of other cars with tires like hers still on the roads-where the heck are they finding their tires?

the 215 tires are going to be 10mm wider than the stock size your car currently has and slightly taller (most likely not very noticeable). So if the current setup has a little room, I'd say you'll be OK and the slightly wider stance might even look better IMO.

Thanks GS I'm going to have a look in there to see. I agree with you about the better width-her car already looks pretty cool with the 205s. To me it looks like a little Porsche from the front.

I did the same to my partner's Mini Cooper (went up in tire width). Didn't have any fitment issues on stock suspension and it not only looked better, but also helps prevent curb rash on the wheels.

Good stats that mirror what Ghost said thanks! Glad already I posted here. I'm lucky Goodrich still builds those TAs. The brands I saw otherwise were flat weird-Nankang, Federal, Achilles? Nope.

As you mention it is getting tough to find 14 inch tires as the market has moved to larger sizes. Going with the 215/60R-14 would be a good alternative for you. We can help with the BFG Radial T/A in that size for you.
