Recently I got into an accident and totalled my truck. Their insurance is taking liability and is sending an estimator to take pictures and get the value of my truck. My question is will they take into account that I did a 4x4 m/t swap into my v6 prerunner or will they base their value on the stock truck. Also should I remove any upgrades I did to the truck for example, suspension and replace it with stock.

Unless you specifically notated to your insurance agent your $$ additional upgrades, you will only get "book value". I told my insurance agent that I wanted "REPLACEMENT COST" for my truck; exactly like it is, not just "KBB value". Costs me something like $30/yr more on premiums.

So I would be better off turning the truck back into stock?

Personally, I would take everything that isn’t bent or broken off the truck that wasn’t on there when I bought it.

Sometimes, you cannot remove ANYTHING from the vehicle (if the ins co "totaled" it), because if they paid you, THEY own it. Here in Michigan, you have to buy the damn vehicle back from the ins co if you want to remove parts.

They havent paid me anything and I still have the truck in my backyard with all of the stock parts sitting there. I might just get lazy and leave it as is and forget about it.

    4 run, 2 don't
Insurance told me if I got my truck stolen, or totaled, my additional "mods" would fall under my comprehensive coverage.

Might want to find out about your coverages.

But it back from them. Or buy it back from the insurance company and sell it to me.
