My mechanic discovered my front CV Axel wobbled. Which, through basic research I found to be normal. Im 98% certain he kept saying transfer case during the whole endevor. Now, in his emailed invoice, it says front differential axel. Would a wobbly CV Axel indicate a bad front diff? .... 1100.00 was the quoted price.

Im a newbie suspicious of getting classic mechanic over-selling tactics.

I've always had a little wobble in my CVs where they connect to the diff. Never had any problems. I'd say if its not leaking or making any vibrations, let it ride. Otherwise fix the seals if it leaks and replace the needle bearing if its vibrating.

$1,100 is average price to replace the CVs and axle. This is not an easy DIY project without the knowledge, skills, tools. Not to mention shop space, lift or floor jack/stands.
