Rookie: OME w TRD 17”s 285/70/17s? Spacers?

I have read a lot about the OME lift with various wheel/tire options but none exactly like my scenario...

2019 TRD Sport w 17” TRD Pro wheels (+4 backspace) and 275/70/17 ko2s.

Want to get the OME lift from Headstrong. Will 285/70/17s fit with minor trimming? Want to avoid CMC. What about with the 1.25” Spidertrax spacers?

Or is it not worth the effort and money to go from 265->285? I do not off road. It is a daily driver and aesthetics only. Could I use the Spacers with the lift w my 265s and the lift for a little more aggressive stance?

Sorry for the repetitive questions. This is my first time lifting a truck and I tried to read up a best I could.

This is what I picked for the lift after reading if it makes a difference...

Im running a similar suspension with 887s,Icon AAL,SPC ucas,5100 shocks, 285 KO2, on sema pro wheels with spidertrax spacers... I need a bmc/cmc for sure. Rubs bad in reverse full lock.

 

well I have same question of sorts, 2017 TRD Sport with 3" lift in front and 1-1/2" add a leaf in rear. Now I want to go to 285/70R-17's and do not want to use spacers at all. So will they rub without spacers? Also, when you add larger tires what if anything is necessary to make electronics of truck normal?

 

285 will rub the UCA without the spacer. With the spacer, 285 will rub the cab mount at some point in the suspension cycle, regardless if you lift it or not. Pick your poison, or stay with 265, or go to a 275/70r17. Also, spacers with 265's will rub pinch weld at some point in the suspension cycle if you put a spacer on them.

That looks great. This should be the model for why going to 285's is not necessary.

 

If it’s just for aesthetics, 285’s aren’t worth the headache imo. Youre pretty much guaranteed to rub on something... not to mention the mpg loss

Tires are Nitto Terra grapplers, SL so they're 46lbs per corner, only 4lbs more than the 265/70/17 I was running before. Loss in MPG for me was about 2, still running 18-19mpgs calculated by hand.

Stay away from E tires if you're concerned about mileage.

You will need the CMC for sure if going 285 tires.

Looks good- i didn’t know there was an SL option. Might go that route once I get a 4x4 again.

 

Nitto Terra grapplers and Toyo offer SL in 285, the Toyos are 45 lbs

 

I’ve always ran 16” wheels, when I was looking I couldn’t find an SL 285/75/16 so I just took the hit with e tires. Maybe things have changed now

I still don’t get how you manage to average 19 mpg with a DCLB, do you live somewhere flat?

 

Coastal virginia, mostly flat and drive a daily 40 mile round trip commute.

Better tire selection with a 17 inch wheel. The original 16s are now on my son's 1st gen.

 

17" rims you can get 285/70 SL in Ridge Grappler and Wildpeaks. I'm looking at the RG SL which is 44lbs compared to the E at 59 lbs. Tirebuyer.com is pretty helpful site, has tire size and offset calculators

• Nothing else was done (NO CMC, UCA, nor drop kits) nor needed in conjunction with the lift which netted me about 2 1/2 " lift in front and rear is still about 1 " higher than the front.

I had no rubbing until last weekend with the truck in 4 low, the left front had some minor rubbing when turns left about 30 degrees and the tire dropping several inches. I've tried every extreme left and right, both forward and reverse with the wheels moving up or down several inches without rubbing.

Note: Wheel selection is a major factor in limiting rubbing. Changing the wheel width also alters the amount of backspacing you need.

If I move up to 285/75-17s there will be some issues.

 

Just upgraded from my KO2s 265/70/17 to the 285/70/17.

Set-up, bilstein 6112s front and 1 inch block in rear. No rubbing at all. Really happy with the bigger tire!

The take-offs only had 1600 miles but I needed to replace the tires on my first generation Tacoma so I decided to upgrade the size on my 18 and use my take-offs on my older Taco.

Lastly, went for the E load again. Had it before and the ride quality was never an issue.

On another note, got the "DT" version of the KO2s. I guess its a "different thread" (rubber) that the BFG is using for improved quality.

 

With sport rims 275 will rub uca without spacers, 285 will rub with spacers on cab mount.
You need spacers no matter what if you wanna keep sport rims, youll need spacers and cmc with 33's (285)
