So, I have a 2012 Toyota Tacoma double cab PreRunner 4X2 with a V6 engine and the TRD sport package. Where could I take it if I wanted to go just minor off-roading and would it be able to drive on beach sand? I am just curious. I doubt it can do much since it is only 4X2. I like to camp, fish, and hunt with family. I also live near a beach so sometines in windy weather we get huge piles of sand on our roads.

    Stuff, things, this, an ADS
Air down your tires and have some recovery gear and you’ll be amazed on what your truck can do.

Doesen't less air in your tires make it less safe to drive?

Air your tires down when you’re off road. It’ll improve the ride quality as well as traction. You can bring a foot pump and get the tires back to normal if needed when back on pavement. The foot pump will take some work but it gets the job done.

I have the same truck as you but a ‘14. This thing has been through mud, gravel, rough rocky roads, tall grass, water, and some sand. Not anything close to a beach yet though. That scares me a bit.

I have been through some sketchy places with this thing that most people wouldn’t take their 4x4s through. The sloped gravel roads are the easiest so far for me to get stuck in. Anything with a decent slope 40 degrees or more I back down first if I know I’ll have to go back up. Keeps the weight pushing at the back wheels instead of just spinning out and throwing rocks all over the truck when trying to back up.

A 4x2 with a locker will go lots of places. You just have to try.

On sand, air down tires, keep throttle at STEADY a rate in the 1500-2500 range. You might get tempted to gun it, but don't. Your simulated ALSD rear diff does pretty well in flat sand.
