I own a pair of these myself. Researched a little bit on them but didn’t find much, but does anyone have any experience being able to replace their halogens with quality leds? or anything that’s ‘better’ than the standard halogens. Obviously will “void” the warranty but looking for an alternative. These head lights require a certain size and length bulb to properly fit the housing.

Welcome to the forum from Eastern North Carolina !

The best bang for your buck will be to simply replace your low beam H11 bulbs with H9 bulbs.
    Easy, effective, and inexpensive.

The only solution is to not buy that Tacoma Beast trash. Those headlights are poorly designed and can be dangerous if you start retrofitting them with LEDs, HIDs, etc. Don't buy them.

You are better off with OEM 2020 LEDs or Morimoto XB headlight fixtures.

Black Friday is coming and there usually is a sale or two to enable you to get what you want.

I have the same headlights and put in some jdmastar h7 bulbs from Amazon. Bright enough for my liking and haven't had any issues so far

I have the same headlights and I’m looking up upgrade the halogens to some leds. No idea how to do it because it’s a whole different configuration to the oem set. I’ll figure it out hehe

Same here, I know there are some brands that have H7 LED bulbs that we can use. I’m not trying to do any cutting to fit larger size bulbs so I’m going to shop around as well

Apparently installing the bulbs is harder than it looks, especially LED's. If you're gonna install LEDs, you'd probably want to take the whole headlight out then work it out from there.

I saw this video too. Not sure why it was so difficult for him. I literally unplugged the stock bulbs, put new LED bulbs in and then the retainer clip.

I think he used the original h11’s from his oem headlights.

Not trying to be "that guy" and I'll show myself out of this thread after this but listen to experts like @crashnburn80 that had strongly advised against HID/LED in housings not designed for them. The light "looks" cool but glares at others and throws light everywhere but where it needs to go.

    Just my $0.02.

    To be more specific:

    1) Aftermarket projectors perform horribly, and TacomaBeast is among the worst in performance and quality. Definitely a brand to be avoided.
    2) The poor performance of aftermarket projectors is due to the lack of precision optics, meaning they don't focus to project light correctly. Putting an LED into an OEM halogen projector causes loss of focus so that the light is not projected correctly. If he LED has loss of focus and you put it into a poor quality aftermarket projector that already has loss of focus, the performance is abysmal. Lots of foreground light and no focus for any distance projection, however glare isn't an issue due to the side firing LED design with the projector light shield, but the headlights are useless at highway speeds as they are easily outrun.
    3) It is a common misconception that projectors provide cut offs for all light sources. A halogen projector allows uplight for overhead street signs based on the intended halogen light source. If you put an LED one in there, there is no forward emitted light from the LED 'bulb' to emit through the uplight as the emitters are pointed to the sides. An HID is drastically brighter than a halogen, and emits lights in an omnidirectional method like a halogen. However, because it is so much brighter, that light is magnified everywhere throughout the pattern, including the uplight which creates significant illegal glare to oncoming drivers.

Just wow. I hadn’t previously watched the video, but as explained above LEDs compound the bad headlight problem to make it worse. This is beyond awful.

For perspective, 100ft gives you 1.1 seconds worth of forward illumination at 60mph, nearly no time to react to something illuminated by the headlights before hitting it. And less than a second at 70mph.

Your best bet is to do a full retrofit. Crack those suckers open and stick in quad Morimoto MLED 2.0s if you want LED. Probably won’t be easy, but that’s why they call it a retrofit.
