The last frivolous purchase I made was a machete, as I needed to cut back some summer growth out in my backyard. I chose one that looked like a small sword because I am a fucking nerd. As soon as I received it, I realized that I actually bought a tiny sword, and so I ended up using hedge clippers instead, because the tiny sword was embarrassing. Now it’s deep inside a closet so my gf doesn’t see it.

I’ve got so much stupid shit stashed away - especially knives - that I’ve never even used that I could probably open up my own store. Sometimes I think we buy shit for the illusion we create in our own heads of who we wished we were, rather than who we actually are. I think if I had realized that sooner, I’d have a lot more money right now. I’ve gotten a lot better with age though.
