That’s awesome. I feel like it’s a forgotten resource sometimes.

That's a sweet deal. I'm only about 40 mins from Buffalo so I feel you on the snow. These are at the top on my list too

I have run dedicated snow tire non-studed and good at tires from duratracs to the at3's and the difference for me was so minor I will stick with not having to change tires out.

Never had any issues, and always felt in control. Obviously you still need to drive cautiously and snow tires would be better, but snow rated all terrains are just fine.

Good tire, quiet and aggressive. I ran them for a winter on my 2nd gen and was pretty impressed with the grip in the snow.

ST Maxx 255/80/17, they are better in the snow but I’m also heavier and they are slightly narrower than the 265 Falkens. So not apples to apples.

I've mostly stuck to Michelins in my old Civic, plus used Michelin X-Ice on my first truck and they got me through a lot. Think Honda Civic trying to plow through 2" of snow. I was laughing with my Michelins, I'd go for a drive for fun in that kind of snow.
Currently on my Tacoma I have some Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 non-studded in stock size for my Tacoma and they handle incredibly well. Next set I'll be going with the Hakkapeliitta LT2 non-studded in 235/85R16. I've never run studs because they're illegal after certain dates in BC and often times we see snow and ice past those dates. I don't regret ever buying non-studded tires even for my shitty '92 Mazda B2200 (RWD) and my Civic. For what it's worth I've heard awesome things about the General Arctic LT the first poster linked and the tread depth is ridiculously high, nice and aggressive for those deep snow days.

If you need winter tires, don't cheap out and buy a set of 4 and never change them. AT tires whether they have the Severe Weather Rating symbol or not will never be as good as dedicated snow and ice tires. After 4` Celsius the rubber hardens and you're on race slicks with no traction which makes you a danger to yourself and everyone else on the road.

Supposedly true but I've heard many times that you will get fined if you don't have the Severe Weather Rating (3 peak snowflake) if you're traveling highways in BC.

That is not true. M+S is all that is legally required.

All I'm saying is people are still getting fined across the province for mountain pass highway travel without the snowflake. I'm aware of the legalities of it, I live in BC.

If they are getting fined the police are wrong and they should not pay. I wouldn’t. I also live in BC and know of no one incorrectly fined.

50% of cops are below average. I’m sure some don’t know the laws they enforce. That’s why we are allowed to challenge a ticket.

No mud flaps, plasti dipped emblems, and rear bumper, Weather tech digital fit, Bed mat from tractor supply. Pioneer 4400BH head unit. B.A.M.F bed rail tie downs. AVS vent visors.
I have used the old gen1 nitto terra grapplers in around the south towns in up to 2’ of snow without any real problems, even hitting snow drifts in the road at 30-40MPH. I did use 4wd a lot though.

I can’t compare to a tru snow tire because I’m not spending money of them for the week or two I maybe up in the winter. But I feel I have drove around enough in WNY snow to say if I was going for a year around tire. I’d get a good AT and look at what people are saying about snow driving.

Edit. The pic I have for my avatar was taken at the Lowe’s in Hamburg.

A true winter tire has more benefits than just snow performance. They typically do better in rain, and are softer rubber so they don’t harden in cold weather. Not saying you need them, but in my experience they have other benefits.

All the time you are running your snows is time you are not running and wearing down your normal tires, so the expense evens out mostly.
