Northern Virginia Roll Call

This speedo talk has me wondering if today’s speedos can still be off from the factory. It used to be years ago that a speedometer (from the factory) could be off by no more than 3% from actual speed vs where the needle is pointing.

Wondering if this still holds true today.

Definitely nice except for those shitty gutter roof rack. Pain in the ass to remove and put tracks on.

 

Yes, the speedo can be off. The speedo in my truck read 2-3 mph faster than actual off the lot.

After some more research, all 2012+ tacos only use the wheel speed sensors and abs module to generate the speed signal to the gauge cluster. No more trans/t-case speed sensors in the manual trucks.

 

Well that'll do it.

Interestingly enough, my 2016 Sport came with 265x65x17 (30.6"). The speedo never matched GPS. When I went to 270x70x17 (31.9), the two always agreed perfectly, per the calculator it should have been off by this much:

Today

 

Backpacked in Shenandoah and hiked to the waterfall and old rag mountain this weekend. Between the two days covered 20 miles and it was mostly either up or downhill. Mah legs.
