I'm 58 yrs old... I don't have much time on this silly planet maybe 30 years ... are we ever going to see a Tacoma diesel in America? Toyota has only been making them since the late 60s what's the main reason they're not here...emissions? Back in 2011 I bought a brand new tundra crew Max ...and my salesman is from the Dominican and he says brand new tacoma diesel(RWD) over there 30+ mpg.... and I thought I remember reading back in 2006 before the next generation tundra came out in 07 I thought a diesel would be in the lineup I guess I'm wrong again.Hino big box trucks make a reliable diesel,I'll find the smallest Hino they make and have someone make it fit in my 01...I guess I'm gonna have to start making T-shirts and signs ..."Bring Tacoma Diesels to America"(at a fair price!!)and picket outside of Plano Texas.

Wouldn't count on it. I'd bet you'll see an electric Taco before a diesel.

Would you be kind enough to share the pictures of your Tacoma diesel engine conversion? I'd love to see the work done to your truck. I didn't know that someone on this forum has had this type of work done on a 1st generation Tacoma. Can we also ask the mods or admin to move this thread to the 1st generation forums as well?

    Ta Da...!

Previous owners had it done back in 2012. Import Performance in Bend, OR did the work.

    Here's the outside:
