@Nitori or others, I have a 2018 SR that is not pre wired. I am trying to use a CaliRaised OEM style fog light switch

Green wire / 2 red wires / black wire

    04EF2812-4BCD-46FE-9E6A-C24376E0F7D8.jpg

I don’t seem to have or can’t find the black connector mounted to a dummy on the lower dash panel...is that something others have experienced? This is the connector where we “pirate the wires
for the switch light” from as stated in the OP.

I tried just using the power wire to pin 26 To BCM and grounding the switch but no luck. The switch lights up but the fogs do not. I may try a simple toggle switch but would prefer to get to the bottom of this using the switch I purchased.

    Am I missing something?

    @motofish84

And you want to tap the green wire on the deck light (aka bed lights) plug. No need to de-pin, as your plug is plugged in, just tap the wire. I can see the deck light plug on the left side of your photo, still plugged in to the panel.

Ok, so the “deck light” connector is the back of cab cargo light switch / connector that I circled? If that’s the case, sorry for the confusion on my part. I didn’t realize the deck light and cargo light were one in the same.

Yup! It confused me to, but Toyota calls the cargo light a deck light.

    So, for your switch:
    Green to pin 26
    Red 1 to ground
Red 2 to the green wire on the deck/cargo light switch
    Black to ground.

So I made the adjustments to the wiring....still not working. Is it ok to tie the red ground wire and black ground wire like I did?

    Though the instrument cluster
now shows the fog light symbol when the switch is active. I swapped the red wires because I didn’t know which is Red 1 / Red 2.

The blue relay with the red dot is the one I installed. The 15A fuse is not blown.

Just to confirm I connected the fog harness to the proper connector on the body:

Ok...I got them working. I checked and rechecked everything wiring wise. All was good. With that I re-checked the fuse and relay, I could even hear the relay clicking when activating the switch so I knew all was good. Lastly I disconnected and reconnected the fog harness to body harness connector....I look down and they were on! I don’t know how or why they came on...I can only assume the connector was not positively engaged at the body harness. Stupid mistake and a lot of messing around but all is well that ends well thanks to @skierd for helping with the switch wiring and @Nitori for posting this thread.

So you got both led's to shine then? One off then ON with fogs activation and the other when TAILS are selected?

Negative. Should have specified. The back lighting comes on when the parking lights and/or headlights are activated. The fog symbol on the switch does not illuminate when the button is “closed”

This a great thread, going to check and see if my 19 SR is prewired, and if it is I may go with the stalk method, thanks to the OP and all who contributed. I plan to use the factory harness relay and stalk of course. I may just replace the H11 lamps with H9's. Does anyone know if this kit may work?

Those lights should fit but typically they will be significantly lower quality than the stock TRD lights. I found my lights and bezels in the marketplace here for $70. Since you’ll be adding the wiring and switches to that kit anyway you’re not really saving a ton of money by getting no name Chinese junk vs stock takeoff parts.

I was looking around but but couldn't find a set unless they are new. I may just get these to start. Browsing this thread, a member was able to piece together his own harness. That would save more money to get a factory stalk. Just trying to keep my options open.

Super green to wiring/ modding of any kind. My sr is prewired and I looked over this thread a few times. Mabe I'm missing or over reading something but if I don't change out the stalk or not use a push button do they come on with the drl/headlights when turned on. Does that one relay complete the circuit. Forgive me for my ignorance lol

From my understanding you will need to change out the stalk and either purchase the wiring harness or make your own as well as the relay. I managed to get the foglights and am planning to to go the stalk installation route to keep an OEM feel so if I do expand in the future I have some slots available. I was able to get the foglights from a member here so looking to to get all the parts needed.

On another note, does the factory harness come with the installation clips or does one need to source those also?

I bough the grill mounted harness off eBay and it came with installation tabs. The relay I bought from Amazon. I also went the factory route since I already had the dash wiring. Wanted a plug and play. Pretty easy just taking off the airbag always puts me on edge.

The used fogs I have don't have the mount screws, does anyone know how many are needed to mount the lights? I saw a video and I couldn't really tell, but it looks like it's only one screw per light?

One per side, #10 screws. 5/8” long works if I remember right.

Thank you, I browsed eBay and they wanted an average of $5 per screw, I near freaked on that, are they made of gold or titanium for that cost? LOL!
