Ok kids, need some input. Can anyone point me to a battery discussion regarding AGM batteries. Or, just chime in with feedback here, either way.

My son is in Marching band and we had a competition last weekend. We were in and out of my truck all day, locking and unlocking it. At the end of the day I went to start it and it wouldn't crank over. I got a jump from another band dad and on our way we went. Since then it's been fine, but I did notice that it had a hard time cranking the other morning when it was cold. So I'm guessing it's not long for this world. Trying to do my research before I need to replace it.

So, AGM batts... Who's running them and how do you feel about them? AGM vs Optima? They're about the same price at my local Advance Auto. TIA!

 

I have no experience with AMG, but ever since Optima went over seas a little bit ago their reviews have gone to shit. Not to diminish those with good luck with 'em, just sharing what i've seen.

 

I've heard similar grumblings.

I have a duarlast agm last few months it seems fine. I’ve only respooled the winch with it motor running but it’s starts way faster and easier. Great warranty as well if you have the extra funds get it and forget it.

 

I'm running an AGM Northstar 27F in mine. Much better performance than my old SLA battery.

I 'member. I can see my tent in the background and that was the trip where someone burned his chair in the fire and that rando almost went to jail lol.

I have an Optima 31m in my truck. It will fit in stock location with minor modification. Modification is you need longer all thread hooks, which are like $5
