So took the 2019 DCOR4x4 in for the 20K Service today.

I had seen a couple of threads here or elsewhere that indicated some seepage at the rear diff seal to be fairly common....I looked at mine and saw the same staining I have seen others have that had the seal replaced. THat and the clutch squeak issue.....THAT they are fixing but had to order parts of course lol.....

But.....they CONFIRM the oil I see but the excuse of the breather puking it because of bigger tires? Seriously? I mean if I need to be educated on this please enlighten me?

Thanks in advance for helping me to understand how the tire size affects the diff pressure and oil gets forced through the breather.

First I have ever heard of a tire causing gear oil to come out the breather of a differential. I just had my 19 TRD OR looked at for the clutch squeak and they will be changing the clutch pedal and master cylinder (parts on order as well). Also had the rear diff looked at for howling (was loud) and they are replacing the rear differential. Hopefully, all is good after that.

And don't get me wrong LOVE this truck so far but HATE lame ass excuses by service advisors. And if I didn't make them look up the clutch TSB they woulda balked that again...the lift causes all the problems....or the tires....even though I went to the same shop the do....just didn't want to pay 7K for lift\wheels\tires lol

I really love my truck as well even with its minor flaws. I don't see the image either.

Hmmmm….I can see the image....but basically the exact wording is this:

"Visual inspection found oil seeping from the differential breather....some oil seepage is normal due to oversize tires on vehicle"

    They are 285's

Can you take a picture of your rear axle?

Edit: And no, oversize tires have nothing to do with oil coming out of the breather. About the only reason that should happen is if the axle was overfilled (by a lot).

I have a tiny bit of something that might resemble seepage. I really am not at all concerned. it would take 15 more years for the first drop to develop.

Well, give us a photo every few thousand miles and double check the oil level once in a while.

I had the same thing on my 18, my service advisor gave me some lame ass excuse and said they would document it. Then he called an hour later saying they are replacing the gasket because there were defective gaskets put on some trucks in the factory. Not sure if that part is true but they replaced it and so far so good

time to find another dealer. Likely to get the same answer from them though. Then do a rear diff breather relocation mod.
