How hard to find used seats? (in good condition)

I'm currently shopping for a Tacoma and finding many with worn driver's seats. How some are so beat and others are in such good condition kinda baffles me. But I digress. I haven't seen many seats for sale here on the forums or on craigslist so I'm wondering how hard it is to find a good, used set (access cab) of grey sport seats, or even just a driver's seat.

I've been turning down most trucks I've found that have a torn seat but have found one now that I like otherwise and the price is right so long as a replacement seat could be had for not too much money. Any idea on general market value for a driver's seat or set of AC seats?

(Also, yes, I know there are aftermarket seat covers available. I'm not interested in such things, only in stock seats.)

You can re skin OEM seats with new covers. Occasionally they’re sold on here because some aftermarket covers are full replacement.

You can order them through a dealer too, I’m sure the part number is already posted here somewhere.

Yes, and actually just today I saw a post about some skins for sale. But, I'm wondering how common this is and what the going rate was. The set I saw today is the first set I've seen in months of perusing the forums so I can't tell how easy they are to find.

Check car-part.com to search salvage yards. There's a pretty good looking driver's seat from a 2012 TRD with the airbag for $150 in Sacramento. I'm sure you could find a similar deal close to you.

    $100-200 second hand.

They’re pretty pricey new from a dealer.

I always forget about car-part.com - thanks for the reminder on that. Looks like I should be able to find one on there even if it's not terribly close to me

Yeah, seats are generally extremely expensive new from the dealer so that's why I'm not even considering that option.

The stock seat covers suck and wear on the edges big time, even if you're careful getting in and out.
You could always get them re-covered at your local upholstery shop?
Most good shops can match what you have - I'm planning on getting leather replacement edges/bolsters put on mine via a local upholstery shop on my 2 front seats so I dont have to worry about it again.

I looked into leather Katzins for the entire truck its $1795 installed, but im guessing a local shop would be much cheaper to just fix yours

I've seen a small handful with tears but most have been just fine. It always baffles me how some seats are worn at 100k and then others look beautiful at 200k (not just talking Tacomas here). I don't think it's the seats, I think it's the owners.

When I've looked at upholstery work around here before it's been very expensive but it could be worth looking into if I couldn't find a replacement first.
