My '04 extra cab SR5 MT with 110K runs like a top, but I can't fit the carseats in it. It's time to get something bigger.

    A few different options:
    1) 2020 pro is about $57,500 out the door (10% tax) in the Seattle area
    2) 2019 pro is closer to $51,500 OTD. They're willing to deal (a little bit)
    3) 2020 offroad with premium pkg, level/lift, bilstein 5100's, wheel and tire upgrade is about $51,500 OTD

I don't do much rock crawling or heavy off-roading but I do drive the forest service roads (sometimes kind of fast) and spend some time driving in the mountains in the winter. What would you do? Second question: what would you do with the '04? As much as I hate to do it, I don't see a way to keep 2 trucks. In my perfect world I'd keep it and go back to it after the kids don't need carseats! Trade-in offer is about $6500.

19 pro is not a bad option. 2020s advantage is just the cameras is has on it and the led lights. You already know what fire-roads you take so if it’s a no need situation for anything more than a stock pro can get you through then you’ll probably like it. I’ve 3 wheeled it in mine on actual trails and have more damage to my 19 pro from driving to fast in narrow low tree over hangs then scraping anything below. So I guess it just depends.

Whatever you do... DO NOT pay that much for any of those trucks. Wait and do more research. You can get a MUCH cheaper version of any of those and add lift, wheels, etc. Don’t spend that much no matter what if you can help it. People will agree I’m sure. Over $50K is way too much.

Keep your 04 and buy a Subaru or Rav4- still cheaper than buying one of the trucks you are looking at.

those are out the door prices--sticker is less. And on the 2020 the dealer is "requiring 3 dealer upgrades"....window tint, running boards, chip protection on the hood etc. I know I can do all those things for less than the dealer, but sometimes you pay 'cause they got you by the nuts. Seems like there might be room to move on the '19s and non-pro level '20s, but I get the sense from other threads that I'm not in a good negotiating position. What do you think is a fair price for any of those options?

Well, that's definitely a consideration I've played with. I've survived most of the places we go to ski and bike and f around in a jetta, albeit at MUCH slower speeds. Just don't know I can keep the truck AND get another vehicle.

I can’t give you a fair price but I can tell you this... Those OTD prices especially for the 2019’s should be VERY negotiable. They want those off the lot ASAP. As far as the OffRoads they should be WAY lower than $50k. Just keep doing some research even if you have to drive one way to pick it up out of state etc. Never pay mark up. Even if you are desperate don’t ever pay mark up especially on an Off Road. I have a manual OR listed for $36 k without all the extra unecessary options for under 31k for. Shop around and never get desperate. These trucks are a dime a dozen.

Sound advice. I'm definitely not in a desperate situation, so I can sit and wait a bit. The only pressure is the dwindling stock of '19s on the lot. Right now the sticker is $44,500 or something like that. They'll go $43,000 as an initial ask on the '19 Pro--I take that to mean that I can come in at $40, 00 and we and can go back and forth for a bit. And to be completely honest, I don't really need that amount of truck--I like the aesthetics. Lame, perhaps, but true. I'm now rethinking the "buy a suburb and keep the '04 option"!

What does OTD mean? How do we know tax rates in all 50 states? STOP USING THIS TERM!. And just buy whatever you want.

Just take a step back and think about it. 3rd gens are great, but get it at the right price and you will be glad you waited for the right deal. They may be getting lower numbers of 19’s but always search other states etc to find something to make sure it’s not actually available. A dealer will tell you they are all pretty much gone until you do a search and see how many are actually left. Lol! Let us know what you end up with.

I live in Olympia, Wa . According to Car Gurus you have 58 pros within a hundred miles. Lowest automatic listed 42,860 in Olympia. I have seen the manual for $40,000. These are all 2019s. Good luck with your search.

I agree with @boynoyce , keep your truck if its running great. Then pick up something used, that car seats actually fit in. A 4 runner or Rav 4 depending on what everyone wants to drive.
50G for a vehicle plus babyseats means your in for some serious bills. If your rich then disregard this. Pros for everyone!

As a father of 2 growing boys in car seats; 19mo 37lber and a 3 yo 45lber, dont rely on a taco double cab to be big enough for car seats and growing children. If you plan to spend that kind of money as listed in your first post, get a full size crew cab something. My next truck will be a crewmax tundy or crew cab domestic.

wife has a Venza and we’re already considering replacing that with a pre owned sequoia or GX/LX.

I would sell your truck private party for a lot more(if it's in really good condition) and buy a 2020 OR with no add ons(premium and tech are cool, no dealer lift or wheels) for a lot less personally

We switched my wife to a GX 460,that thing is so comfortable and rear facing seats fit much better than in my Tacoma.
