    stock suspension

put on KO2s 265/75/16 stock OR wheels.

no rub, quiet ride, little stiff.

great upgrade for better off road traction but still practical and won’t break bank. Great option! Break in stock suspension maybe in 50k miles look at upgrade. No need for more unless serious off roading

My next tire after seeing your post & doing a bit of research on them. It will be a great day once my Wildpeaks are off my truck.

So far just a bed mat and a lighter wallet
that would be the right decision imo. Did some light off roading with them this last weekend. Just hilly dirt trails with ruts. Tires griped like glue and I didn’t need 4wheel Drive. Honestly for the cost and SL rating (just over 40lbs) it’s the best tire out there and kind of a hidden gem imo. If you need a tire with a super strong sidewall I would look for a tire with a 4ply sidewall

I agree with the hidden gem statement. Seems like a great alternative to Wildpeaks.

The only problem is they’re about $30-40 more per tire than a WP. I’m sure the Ultraterrain is a great tire, but I can’t get over the fact that it looks like some bastard child of a Duratrac and those shitty Walmart Goodyear all terrains.

Well, I had Duratracs and never really cared for the look either. So when they made a milder version that resembles the Walmart version.......yep, I don’t love it. Especially the narrower sizes that pack the tread closer together.

Like I said, I’m sure it will be a great performing tire.

Fair enough. For me like many the options for an SL load or similar tire in a 16” rim were extremely limited so I found UT’s to be an attractive alternative. I would suppose once you’ve had duratracs your not gonna be thrilled with a less aggressive tread pattern and weak sidewall

No denying the WP is a great looking tire. No way will I buy another set until they fix the lack of quality in them though. Dealing with constant tire vibrations is maddening.

What is wrong with the walmart Goodyear tires? I assume you are talking about the authority model.

The lack of options in an aggressive AT in SL is a real problem for 16s. I think when I’m ready to take off my winter set I’m going to grab a set of 17” wheels because there are more options in an SL. Maybe some Ridge Grapplers if I’m going to keep a dedicated winter set. The new Pirellis or even General ATX look to be good tires too.

I had a friend that had a set not long after they came out. He had nothing but bad experiences. Vibrations, noise, tread wear and they weren’t really much cheaper than a non Walmart specific tire.

To me when something is specifically made for a store that has a bigger baby section than a tire section it doesn’t really scream quality. When Discount tire does it(Ultraterrain) it’s a little different story, because tires are what they do. Just my opinion.

Not trying to be difficult here, but with a sample size of 1, you could call anything shitty.

A lot of people praise those tires with flying colors. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/goodyear-wrangler-authority-the-rangers-review.233752/

Fair enough. They might be a good tire. However I’m still going to stand by my statement that they can’t be that good based on the fact that they are made exclusively for Wal-Mart. Walmart is a price point store not a quality buy once cry once store. There is a reason they stock them in store over all other widely available all terrains. They are used for the impatient or less critical consumers that see them on the shelf and are willing to pony up a little more cash than a regular run of the mill all season tire. Walmart is no doubt maximizing profits on these over any ATs that they would need to special order. And I highly doubt nearly as much money was spent on R&D as a widely available tire. But this is all assumption and I could be way off. Either way they will never see their way onto one of my vehicles.

My 265/75/16s rub not on the control arm, but the part that stems down from it. I can’t even fit my finger in between that part and the tire on either side. I have stock off road suspension
