MESO Puddle Light build

Not that I know of. I believe this would require the specific on,door,off switch for it to work. Unless you mean instead of tapping into the A-pillar circuit, to have it as a completely independent lighting piece?

 

Volvo does this as well. Will also turn on with steering wheel deflection.

 

Puddle lights providing the best lit mud holes around.

 

Can't wait for those switches so we don't have to open our doors, lol.

Definitely in for a switch. I have a blank space next to the rear sliding window button. I hope it fits there but I have no doubt Meso is going to kill it on his design.

 

It will fit there, he's making it the small switch size. Oh he will kill it, we all know that. Only thing is that he's going to overkill it and we are all going to go crazy with em.

 

I ended up connecting Meso's puddle lights to this (https://yotamafia.com/product/3rd-gen-tacoma-rock-light-kit/) designed to plug&play into your factory cargo switch. Now my puddle lights, cargo, and rock lights, automatically activate when locking/unlocking, opening any door on my truck or manual activation. Because I had rock lights installed, Yotamafia allowed me to purchase their harness and switch separately minus their KC Hilite Cyclones rock lights.

However, with this option, you do not have Maso's proximity sense capability.

Looking for some help here, I PM'd @MESO but wanted to see if you guys have any advice as well. I installed my puddle pods and now both of them will not turn off unless the battery is disconnected. The dome light circuit is also screwed up, wont turn off (even with doors locked and truck running) unless the switch is in the off position. At first I thought that I fried the body control ECU (saw on other forms that LEDs can do this on 3rd gens) but this wasn't the case. I narrowed down the problem to the driver side pod, when I unplug it from the plug in the door panel, everything works fine (passenger side pod and dome circuit since driver side pod is unplugged). Is this a bad plug or bad LED on the driver side? Or a short somewhere between that plug and the LED? Thanks!

I am having the exact same issue currently, my driver side one is the problem. Did some diagnosing and when I unplug the driver side at the harness in the a pillar, my passenger and map lights function as normal. Tried switching my driver side pod plugs around and it didn't resolve the problem at all. @MESO is sending me a new T harness and driver split harness which should hopefully fix the problem. For future reference, pulling the a pillar plastic is much quicker than the door panels lol.

 

When you say you switched the driver side plug around do you mean you swapped the driver and passenger side plugs at the y-splitter just before the t-harness? I did that as well and it didn’t change anything so that makes me think the t-harness and y-splitter are still good and that the problem must be something downstream of the y-splitter on the driver side. Unless I’m wrong and the t-harness could actually cause that.

 

Yeah so I was swapping the driver and passenger plugs at the Y harness in the pillar. The passenger worked as normal in either plug with the map light set to door (both map and passenger puddle light would turn on and off with locking/unlocking). The driver side plugged in either plug of the Y harness caused the puddle and map lights to stay on, and with both plugged in they stay on as well. I would try unplugging the driver side and see if that resolves it. Speaking to @MESO he said he'd send me a new T splitter harness and the Y harness so I'll report back if that resolves it.

 

So I was given this hint earlier. My driver’s side mirror housing is broken, rock maybe. I’m told you guys who have installed MESOs puddle lights might have this piece lying around. Anyone want to part with theirs?

 

Would like to help but gave mine to Meso who used his to design the puddles. I'm sure someone can help you out.

 

Huge shoutout to @Sleevez and @Dakota3645 for the help. If anyone is having this problem, check the wire inside of the gasket area of the mirror (it can get crushed while tighten down the 3 nuts to re-install the mirror). I cut that section out and soldered it back together and now everything works as it should! Thanks for the killer products @MESO, just messed up on my end!
