Hi, looking for some advice. I'm in the process of remodeling our kitchen and I think I need to lower the drain pipe in the wall for the sink. It is currently 22" off the floor and I think I need it needs to be lowered. Approx counter height will be 36" and the new sink will be a 10" undermount sink.

Searching on line, I've seen off the floor height from 12"-17".

I was hoping to lower it myself, but I haven't opened the wall yet to see what is exactly going on. The pipe is copper and turns to the right (horizontal) immediately in the wall. The vent pipe is a foot or so to the right. If the copper drain pipe drops down after it turns right, can I cut out a section and reconnect with a fernco coupling?

I'm hoping to open the wall later tonight and can post pictures. Just looking for some advice or suggestions ahead of time.

    Thanks in advance.

Id say if its right next to the vent pipe cut it there and push the vent pipe up, put a new "T" fitting there and Lower it. but pics would help.

    Here’s what I’m looking at.

Can I cut the copper drain pipe the need drop use a fernco tee and then extend a piece of pvc up to the iron vent pipe?

id say cut it and go, only consideration I'd hope that wall isnt load bearing since you'd have to oblong or cut a new hole for the pipe.

What’s up with the dual valves on the hot and cold? One set to the sink and the others went where?

Would a deeper than normal p trap work? Just thinking outside the box. I wouldn't want to weaken the wall with more holes through the studs.

May seem weird but is that right above a basement or crawl space? I mean you might be able to just keep that copper as the vent tube and then plumb a fresh drain straight down and connect in the basement area.

    Dont use a fernco tee!!!
If the steel pipe goes up threw the roof above your kitchen then replace it with plastic. If its a wet vent ( something else drains to it above ) then your kinda screwed. Are you installing a garbage disposal?
Im a plumber, if you want I could give you more advice
