I said it already, these are predictions, even the weatherman who can clearly see a hurricane makes a mistake when predicting its path/strength, but Ill tell you what, if there no recession around the corner, which can be late 2020, early 2022, Ill buy you a pizza, stuffed crust, extra cheese, 5 ingredients, a couple dipping sauces, and a 2L drink. If there is you buy it for me.

 

True story:

Once a long time ago, after some evening indulgences, my pals and I decided to order what we dreamt would be “the ultimate cheese pizza” for delivery. In good faith, I called my favourite pizzeria to order a “three-cheese pizza, with extra cheese, cheddar cheese, feta cheese, and a cheese stuffed crust”. The pizzeria guy said “no fuckin’ crank calls asshole” and hung up on me.

 

He “says” that. Many of you are being much more charitable than I would expect. It’s a Friday thread with a mashup of questions that normally start dumpster fire threads or relate to topics the OP could easily research himself using existing TW threads (OV Tune).

OP, if you are real, don’t worry about your truck. It’ll be fine. And it doesn’t need OV Tune to work....fine.

 

I predict nothing, because there are too many variables in anything. Which is basically what I was saying, listen to no one. But I will take that bet because it means one of us will be eatin stuffed crust. I will ALWAYS bet pizza. Even with future-predictors.

Toyota’s Tacoma is currently the #1 selling mid size truck. A lot of sales are simply based on reliability, dependability, perceived quality and the amazing resale value. Does the truck have faults? You bet it does. An awkward seating position, an automatic tranny calibrated for fuel mileage, a gun slit like windshield, fuel mileage on par or worse than a full size pickup, lack of headroom, non-steel front and rear bumpers, etc.

Bottom line? Buyers will put up with the deficiencies compared to the competition just to avoid getting to know the service manager by his/her first name.

Specific to the U joints. It's been mostly excepted that the "lack of lube" is, in fact, people's misunderstanding as to how a joint is properly lubricated.

So far these trucks have functioned properly with a few outliers. The leaking diff is oil from assembly that has crept. The erratic shifting is due to pussy footing the pedal, and the “plasticky feel” of the interior is due to construction material. Which is plastic.

 

Sounds like whining to me.
