I have a set of Bilstein 4600 shocks coming my way via Ebay. My question is should I replace the top hats with new ones, and are there any aftermarket ones worth buying. New to Tacoma suspension work. How many parts are there in replacing the top hat. If someone knows where I can find a diagram showing all the parts, that would help me quite a bit. I've searched TW for 1st gen top hats but didn't find very much info. My Truck currently has 135k miles, can I reuse my TRD coils or should I replace them also.

My 4600s came with new bushings for the top hat.

you can easily reuse the coil springs, as I remember the bilstein front struts do not come with new upper stud bushings, bilstein says you can reuse the old ones, I bought a new set of those bushings from Wheelers offroad for $30 plus ship to be on the safe side, I had at least 200k miles on mine at that time the coil springs were fine

@BillsSR5 , Thanks again, I'm trying to refresh what I know needs replacing, and for $6.33 a piece, I think I'll splurge for those too.

@BillsSR5, Let me ask you a question, on another post I made, asking about suspension questions, a couple of TW members said not to change the upper ball joints, since they don't take the same amount of abuse as the lowers, what's your thought on this.

if those balljoint boots aren't leaking or weeping out any grease leave them alone, there was a Toyota recall for replacing the lower balljoints I had my 2004 Tacoma ones changed out for free by Toyota as a recall. if you run your VIN number here you can find all the recall/TSB work that's been done to ur truck if they haven't been done you still can get it done I think recalls don't have expiration dates, plus they give u a loaner car for the day.https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/lower-ball-joint-recall.97304/ run the VIN on here https://www.toyota.com/recall
