Me and my does have a understanding. The can walk off quietly or they’ll be shot. Like the saying goes “if they blow they go”

That is the best understanding, what bothers me is if they're standing in the woods and I can't see them. Makes me want to chase them off, lol.

I figure if a deer is downwind of you he (or she) can smell you, no matter what you do. Upwind, they ain't gonna smell you. Where it gets tricky (imo) is when it's calm. Thermals drift all over the place, which sucks. When it's calm, it's best to be lucky.
So, and this is just my opinion...no matter how stinky you are, it there's a decent breeze and a deer is upwind...they ain't gonna smell you. But...(also my opinion) no matter how scent free you are, if they get downwind, you're prolly busted.

I’m gonna give it a shot again in the am. We have a frost warning so maybe it will get some movement happening. I don’t have much time to hunt so I try to get out any chance I can. I’ll let you guys know if anything good happens since last time didn’t quite work out.

I know the feeling I saw a groundhog last time in the stand. I used to slay them on the place I was at. They must be making a comeback. Lol!

they are a nuisance, can carry rabies, and if you dont remove a gland in the meat, it makes it all nasty.
