Should I fill this in?

About to start some bondo work within the next day or so. Should I fill this in? What do you guys think? Will it look cool or will I be missing a classic first gen detail?

I vote no fill, I like the lines as they are

 

Smooth would be nice but if you're just using body filler I'd be concerned it would crack over time.

I do love the clean look of less lines though, for a show truck at least. I shaved the door handles, tailgate handle, and had a roll pan on my old S-10 mini.

You’re better off leaving em alone. Bondo is meant to be used in thin coats. You seem to know what you’re doing since you’re doing that much body work, but thicker applications of body filler will continue to shrink for several months after being applied. This could cause your finish paint to crack along the lines or at the very least the lines to show through as a small indentations. You’ll be kicking yourself after doing all that work for the finish to have imperfections.

No, I’d keep the lines. Wouldn’t look right without it.

If you were doing a mini truck I would say otherwise.

 

Seems like a lot of work for not much gain, but those small details are kind of what show trucks are all about.

If it floats your boat, I support your endeavor.

 

I definitely like smooth myself. I did some similar work on a 1980 dodge single cab. Roll pan, shaved mirror/door handle/gas caps(it had 2), etc.... it was a sweet truck until a tree fell on it. had a 360 Lil red express motor. Gotta love a huge ass pecan tree and Louisiana storms.
I think I’m going to leave the lines since they’re a defining characteristic of these trucks. Just wanted to gauge interest and see how much of a sin it would be.

 

this. Do it right or don’t do it at all. The best way to do it would be to weld in filler panels and then bondo over.

I had a dent taken out of mine last summer.

 

I unfortunately do not. They’re all stuck on my old paper weight of a laptop.

 

This looks good. Seems like they smoothed up those little tack welds back there too. I will definitely be taking care of those. I’ve decided to leave the groves though
