Yes I plan to file for diminished value, I have done this in the past before when I was hit in another truck I owned. How much less do you guys think a truck that had to have the frame pulled out back is worth?

Only other update I have is going back and forth today with the insurance trying to use aftermarket parts on my truck. I just hate this whole process, guy who hit my wife drove a piece of crap 04 volvo and I will be left one way or another not whole on this. Always happens this way it seems. Good news I found out today is the kid who was on the cellphone that hit my wife was 16 and new law is that he will loose his license until he is 18, hope that teaches him to put the phone down.

    Update:
OEM parts debate is over, the tow package hitch has no aftermarket alternative so OEM for that. I had installed a OEM bumper I had powdercoated, the base model bumper is half the cost of an aftermarket chrome bumper so the shop is fixing my truck to the "vin" per say and then ordering me the black bumper an the cost difference covers my OEM plastics on the rear bumper. Glad all that worked out in my favor. Shop is ordering parts.

5:45pm I get a call from the shop saying they have finished up the vehicles they had in, parts for my truck are arriving tomorrow from Toyota. So looks like I'm dropping her off tomorrow for repair, looks like she's going on the torture rack.

Still surprised its getting repaired as I have yet to come across a Tacoma thread where one didn't get totaled. I have to then file for diminished value after repairs are complete.

    UPDATE:

Dropped truck off this afternoon and Toyota parts were already waiting. I took the bumper over to powder coat which should be done by early next week. Truck's going on the frame rack today, estimated 8.5hrs frame time.

    Update:
Stopped by the shop today and the truck was apart and Ready to get set up on the frame machine. Bed went back to shape once unbolted and with it just sitting on the frame rails the gap at the cab was back to normal. No paint or body work will be needed on the bed which is a plus.IMG_20191009_121417603.jpg IMG_20191009_121508774.jpg IMG_20191009_121417603.jpg IMG_20191009_121508774.jpg IMG_20191009_121504250.jpg IMG_20191009_121521519.jpg IMG_20191009_121526675.jpg

    Update 10-18-2019

Got a call the truck is ready for pickup this morning. Rear frame was all cold work and about 8hrs in pulling and hammer and dolly work. New hitch, new bumper and new plastics on the bumper as well. Only paint work was to the top corners of the camper shell where it looks like the glass made contact.

WOW! That's one clean ride. It sucks for you that it was damaged but you would be hard pressed replacing that truck in that shape.

Thanks! I work hard to keep my trucks in good shape, and this is the wife's truck and she tells me all the time she's going to the 300k club. She takes good care of it also, and yeah she was hoping not to have to part with it. Once I get it home TRD pro suspension kit is getting installed!

From the looks of that truck and less distracted drivers, there is no doubt she will get her there!!

Probably the least amount of rust I have seen on a Taco that age, ever! Nice Work.
