Please don't kill me if this is addressed somewhere, I couldn't anything when I searched.

I've had my 2016 since new and have had some issues since:
    1. Toyota has replaced the rear end seal due to leaking
    2. They replaced two fender flares (same location) that kept peeling off
    3. My transfer case was replaced due to a weird "womp womp" noise at 19-21 mph
    4. They repainted the driver door sill due to rust forming from factory weld splatter
    5. Have had to add noise reduction tape to the passenger side A-pillar speaker grille because the plastic was squeaking like mad in the winters

    Current issues are:
    1. A light chirp noise when I move the shifter from P to D or the opposite, happens occasionally
    2. Vehicle pulls to the right continuously, two dealerships blame the tires (BFG AT II's, stock size)
    3. Just recently, when I started the truck, the dash lights stayed off and would not come on for ~45-60 seconds, whereas they normally illuminate immediately, first time this has happened
    4. Windows make a scratchy sound as they go up/down, like there is sand between the glass and felt. There is not sand there and I don't live in a sandy environment. Worried the windows are getting scratched/etched slowly every time I raise/lower them.

Now for the reason I actually started this thread - Ever since they did the transfer case work, my transmission has never been the same. It frequently, we'll say anywhere from 2-10+ incidents/week, makes a very clunky downshift as I approach a stop sign/light. This past week it did it 5-6 times and downshifted hard enough one of those times that it spooked me pretty bad.

The truck has been in a few times for the transmission and the dealership keeps saying that it is normal. Had the roaming master tech look at it when he was in town about 8 weeks ago and he said that "this is just normal for these Tacomas". BS buddy, I had about 2.5 good years w/zero tranny issues so I know it is not "normal for these Tacomas".

Anyone else having the same issue? I don't see a recall or TSB for my vehicle. I can't be the only one experiencing this. I know it isn't normal, and I know something is definitely wrong, I just don't know what.

This gen tacoma does not have the smoothest transmission compare to the previous generations. This is my first truck, but I have driven previous tacoma with high mileage before and they shift smoother.

I hear ya'll, and I might chalk it up to being a less than stellar transmission if it did this since new, but it started literally within a week of the transfer case being replaced. Really hope I don't have to just accept this as normal now.

Mine did not clunck when I bought it. It only started this year after some service work. I'm pissed and the dealership keeps saying that it's normal. It is not normal that things were fine, they did service, and now things are not fine. F*$#@kkk!!!

Already did this and it's fine.

Anyone have ideas about the transmission issue? Anything you've been able to figure out? Anything I can tell the dealership to look at?

I have 24k on the truck, mostly city miles. Don't really see a need to grease those yet. And not sure how you are connecting the two? The transmission makes a very noticeable clunk when it downshifts into 2nd or 1st as I come to a stop, never any other time. If it was the driveline needing greasing I would expect the issue to be more broad.
