These are great. One of the best ‘unseen’ mods I did on my truck. Having dry, clean cubbies is a nice thing I sometimes take for granted.

All Tacoma owners need these, or they don’t know what they are missing.

To make sure that they hold in place in case the adhesive strips loosen.

    A silicone bead never hurts.

Without those caps, these cubbies are really a joke. Stuff gets dirtier in the cubbies, than if you just chucked it in the bed. The spray coming off the tires goes right in those holes in the cubbies.

I’d be willing to sell mine if I can find them. Never used.

These cubby caps are a good idea, in general, but I have to admit I'm still struggling with mine.

As the OP video points out, the secret in installing them is to put the bottom caps in place after the cubby is fully in position. You reach up from underneath the truck, in the gap between the bed and the outer fender. It helps to have long arms.

If you later go to remove the cubby, you're going to knock these caps off. Be prepared to retrieve them from the pavement.

I found that it's best just to forget the applied adhesive foam (scrape it off), and use 3M Plastic and Emblem Adhesive (which is a form of contact cement, like Ambroid). The adhesive foam just won't hold.

The bottom caps have their own drain holes. This kind of defeats the purpose. Seal up these holes.

As for the 5/16" drain holes at the back of the cubbies themselves, regular hardware store plugs work well.

The supplied seals for the door are useless. Cut your own from gasket material. It also might be a good idea to put a gasket on the flange of the cubby itself, where it bears against the side of the bed.

For $20, Mike's kit is cheap enough so that you can experiment with it.

Thanks for the input. Yeah I was thinking maybe using shoegoo vs double side tape. I’m wanting to run my 12v in one of the cubbies. Housing the fuse block for future add ins in the bed later and a panel installed in the door.

Yes, if you're planning to run anything electrical in the cubby, you're going to want it dry.
