so I’m new to the taco world and my friend told me about Tacoma world, so here I am. I bought my truck a while back and I started having some throttle problems around thanksgiving last year but I chalked it up to the cold, it didn’t last for more than a week. It was just cutting out as I was accelerating but then it would start at the same rpms as it was. But the other day I was driving to work and it started doing that and it just won’t accelerate past like 2100 rpms now. It doesn’t bother me most of the time because I can compensate for it but it’s my daily and it makes it hard when I get on highways to get to higher speeds
Please and thanks for any and all input, I think it’s just a sensor but I don’t want to throw money at it without knowing and I don’t want to take it to a shop

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
With the engine idling tap the maf lightly with the handle of a screwdriver; if the idle fluctuates the maf is bad (or so I hear). Good luck and welcome to TW!

Do you have any idea when the last time it had a decent servicing? What's the mileage on it?

Typical things are MAF, IAC valve, throttle body clean, plugs and wires, that type of stuff. Fuel pump might be a culprit too. Lots of things, lol... But these basic high(er) mileage maintenance items should be done anyway, and they may well be the cause.

The other thing that'd be a good idea is hooking an OBDII scanner to it and see if there are any pending code or anything. Sometimes there are codes that don't trigger a check engine light. If you get one that's bluetooth, you can use an app like Torque Pro to monitor things like air/fuel ratio.

It’s at 242k and I had the plugs and wires done about a year(11k miles) ago, I’m not sure about anything else but that is for the advice
