I have an electronic 4x4 type transfer case, I would like to change the selector switch on the case, the one that looks like a reverse light switch? Do I have to put it in neutral or a certain gear to remove the switch? Is that the neutral switch does anyone know?

Just keep the transfer case in the position opposite of the sensor you're removing. If you're removing the 4lo sensor, keep it out of 4lo etc.... Because it may interfere with reassembly of the sensor... It's usually recommended to replace the gasket upon removal. And be sure to not double up the gasket ie: make sure to remove the old gasket before you install the new one as the old gasket likes to marry to the transfer case.
