What does your red center cap look like?

Flow formed wheels are an excellent choice. They fall between a cast and forged wheel in strength and are still affordable.

I don’t think I have the power to poop anyone’s party here, and yes, I am allowed to do what I want with my time as well, so chill.

If it was your intellectual property maybe you’d feel different. I dunno. I’m not salty, just stating facts. I find the whole situation of rip-off wheels very interesting. I’m amazed how quickly the rip-off articles hit the market. Like, think of the hoops and approvals Toyota has to go through to get a safe set of wheels designed and mounted on a new model year.......then boom!....the rip-offs are on the street before the OEM wheels are even on the lot. It’s completely amazing, really. I’d love to know the mechanics of how all that goes down. It must be happening at a level where the rip-off vendors are getting their hands on the design prior to release (either legally or illegallly?). It would be interesting to know.

Furthermore, it’s interesting that I could go to jail for copying someone’s design from my own country, but the Chinese seem to float above it all. That I also find fascinating.

I read your essay... and I agree with it.

Sadly though, the people that don't care about ripping off intellectual property, also don't care about your opinion.

To sum up the overwhelming opinion in this thread, stealing Toyota's design is ok, because big bad Toyota. If someone were to rip off @MESO ,then the fan bois would come out in full force. I know this, because it's happened numerous times.

Oh well... no one ever claimed TW was logical.

I was being sarcastic... But your opinion is still your opinion. People out there are looking for stuff that fit their mod, the TRD Pro wheels only comes in 16x7. And like many before me have requested, they want a TRD Pro rim but one that would fit a wider tire, which a x7 with any offset would be limited to. So yes the market for copycat okay even if not some people.

Copyright covers creative expression like music and writing, you are probably thinking a Design Patent

It is amazing how similar they can make wheels and not violate another design. I think there has to be just 20% difference which can be anywhere.

How can we tell if rims are reps or not? I see people selling “genuine” Tacoma rims but they are 17” and aren’t the TRD Pro tacoma rims 16”? Maybe they are OEM but for 4runners or something? Don’t want to pay a good price for fake OEM replicas?

For legal purposes, most replica wheel advertisements have the word "Style" somewhere in the name to indicate that they are not authentic. Of course you can always ask the seller (hopefully they're honest), and lastly, some wheels will have special marking/engravings to indicate that they are OEM. For example, I know that the older OEM Pro wheels have the letters "TRD" stamped on the outer rim of the wheel.

I don’t know what the demand will be for the 16” Pro replica wheel. You can purchase a Toyota OEM 2020 TRD Pro wheel for $196.

I've only seen a handful of OEM 2020 Pro wheels currently online at around the $250/wheel mark. Regardless, part of the reason we make our replicas in non-OEM specs/finishes/flow forged and at a much lower price helps make our wheels a little different

Where are you finding them for $196?

also are you confirming that they are only 16” OEMs? Cause I deep people selling them on Kijiji saying OEM rims taken off tacoma but they are 17”, which doesn’t make sense lol

Thats what I figured thanks for confirming. So the 4 runner one probably fits no problem on a tacoma I assume, Like they have the same size hub center for hub centric mounting? Also what is the width of and offset difference between these rims? 7.5 or 8" for 4 runner pro rims?
