Hello my fellow Taco lovers! Brand new to TW and was hoping to absorb some insight from you all on the topic of searching for a RTT and a rack for a 2020 Taco TRD Pro. I was hoping to keep the RTT height below the cab to reduce drag. Any suggestions on a winning setup? I have 3 weeks until I get my Taco, in the meantime I have a 2003 Tacoma with a rusty, falling apart, scary to drive frame. So, I am planning to get the RTT and rack shortly thereafter.

This is why I came to TW, you all have the best guidance. I never even thought of the fact that it would block my rear view. thank you, just saved my truck a fender bender

It’s not that bad. I drove for years without being able to see out of the back window and never wrecked my truck. Learn to use the side mirrors and pay attention to your surroundings and you’ll be just fine. When I had a RTT it was mounted just below cab height so I could still use my roof rack for kayaks, canoes, lumber, etc.

Thanks! We have identical 2003 taco. Mine is just lacking about 20% of the frame due to losing chunks on the road. With only 156,000 miles, I am sad to say it is no longer road worthy. I hope that yours is fairing better!

Ive had my RTT blocking the rear view for a couple years now, drive my truck everyday and have never had an issue with not being able to use the rearview mirror. Side mirrors work just fine, plus you guys and your fancy new trucks have backup cameras don't you? I don't even have that lol.

I like keeping the RTT at cab height for both aesthetics and because there's less wind resistance versus if it sits above the roof line.

Biggest downside to it is that you loose vertical bed space, but for my needs it's not that big of a deal.

Welcome to TW! If you want to avoid the RTT sticking up too high then bed bars are the way to go. Plenty of good options out there.
