Does anyone have any experience dealing with Black Widow Gear that they would like to share?

Looks like they are based out of Ottawa/Quebec.

    Any feedback would be appreciated

I did contact them in regards to a bumper for a 1st gen, although not listed on the site I was told they do have a diy or pre built one available. Looks pretty decent too

I just went through a horrible experience with these guys! I don't drive a Tacoma, I have an xterra but I want to warn anyone thinking about buying from these guys what to expect.
I ordered the bumper from them Jan 28 and didn't get the bumper until may (they told me it would be built in approximately 6 weeks when I ordered) at that point I had to send it back because the mounting brackets were too wide. They promised it would be fixed in 2-3 days once they received it, they had it on may 23 and it wasn't returned until mid june. Once I got it back I noticed there were multiple problems with the bumper. I was sick of dealing with these guys for close to 6 months so I filed a paypal claim just in case we couldn't reach an agreement and I only had less than a month to make a dispute before time was up with paypal. The bolt holes on the bracket that mounts to the frame had to be dremeled out over a half inch just so the bumper would side close to the rear of the xterra, this was after they supposedly fixed the bracket after I had already sent it back to be fixed...... The bracket that the tire carrier mounts to was bent which made the spare tire and jack lean away from the rear at a noticeable angle, on top of that the upper jack mount wasn't welded square to the bumper so that made the jack lean even more than the tire. I have a feeling that they have been through this before because when I told them I would take pictures and post them in the claim on paypal Black Widow escalated my claim to a dispute and at that point I wasn't able to upload any pictures. I contacted Paypal explaining I had pictures that would clearly show the issues but because Black Widow escalated the claim I couldn't upload them, unfortunately for me paypal wouldn't accept the pictures when I emailed them and didn't request them so Black widow won the dispute. These guys made outright lies in their paypal statement but I couldn't upload the screenshots of our text messages to disprove what actually happened (again, I really think they knew that as soon as the escalated the claim I wouldn't be able to provide any more evidence). Please go read my product review on thenewx website, it has all of the details and a lot more pictures. I really don't want anyone else to get scammed by these guys, their product quality is horrible and they don't back up their work at all.

Black Widow Gear Is The Worst Company I have ever Dealt With.
Well after 19 weeks of giving me the run around and outright Lying to me they finally threw together a bumper kit for me (after I contacted the better business bureau and threatened lodging a complaint with the RCMP). They added a bunch of cut outs to the top plate portion that I don't like but thought they must be for access to the winch free wheel lever but they totally block it so I'll have to make plates to fill them in and figure out where to cut an access hole for the free wheel lever. they also did not send me the hardware kit and bull bar I ordered with it and after 3-4 emails the don't seem to be sending me those items or a refund for them! Save yourself the headaches and order elsewhere BAD BAD COMPANY TO DEAL WITH!!!

Just an update BWG has refunded me for the items they failed to provide me with. So to be fare they did not rip me off , they just gave me the run around for nine months.

I’ve been doing some research on these guys due to to issues a friend is currently having with Black Widow Gear and found this thread. Your complaints are very similar! Bumpers ordered in June 2018 (money sent in June) and they have still not produced the bumpers! Numerous requests for either the bumpers or a refund have been sent and either they try to convince him to wait another month, or claim his emails went to spam. When a refund was requested they sited thier no refund policy. If a company refuses to produce the product they can’t refuse to refund the customer!! So today I joined a group on Facebook who Black Widow Gear was apparently going to sponsor (don’t judge me for joining a Jeep group, I am a Toyota girl and always will be! Haha). People were considering ordering from these clowns and I wanted to suggest they do thier research first, which I did and included a link to the BBB complaints. Well long story short Black Widow Gear LIED in his responses, tried to blame PayPal for previous issues and backed out of the sponsorship. Oops. I was also blocked from the group. It wasn’t my intention to cause a big scene, just let people know that research should be done before ordering anything from a new company. Buyers should always have the choice to protect themselves in my opinion. I am curious now though if anyone else is having issues with these guys? He claims to have only one customer who has been waiting for 10 months, however, he claims the delay was PayPal’s fault and my friend did not pay via PayPal. Also, does anyone happen to know the registered legal name of the company? I’ve tried searching the govnt of NS but suspect they are either not registered or registered as a numbered company. Cheers!

The company name on the parcel they sent me was Custom Creations, could that be it?

Haven’t found anything for Custom Creations either :( unfortunately they have still not produced the ordered product, refuse to provide a refund, continue to lie in their email, blame everyone else and reject registered mail. It boggles my mind how this business could possibly be operating still! What they are doing is criminal

So looks like Black Widow Gear is NOT registered to do business in Nova Scotia. Not under the name Black Widow Gear, or Custom Creations or Metalworks (which also appear on some of their paperwork). They have also just announced a merger with a company on Lundenburg waterfront who likely has no idea what type of business they run. Everyone who has tried to comment on their Facebook page asking when they will get their orders or money back has been blocked and comments deleted. I feel bad for the new company they are apparently teaming up with!

Guys, I had an entirely different experience with this company. I contacted them in the Spring about making me a "hybrid" style bumper. BWG was very responsive to me. I had to book with them almost two months in advance, and while I was away for work I left my truck with them (I live close to their shop). Brad e-mailed me photos of the work in progress and incorporated my feedback. The end product was exactly what I wanted. You can see some pictures in the images I've attached.

BWG is basically a one-man shop, so take that for what you will. It might be worth noting that he's even done custom pieces for his local fire department. I can't speak to the experiences that other people have had, I can only share the experience I had, which was a good one.
