If you don't care if they have velcro and the design is fairly simple (not a lot of detail or multiple colors), they will probably be your best bet.
The patches that are collectible and fall into the "Morale Patch" category are more expensive because they have a higher level of detail, have velcro attached to the back, are limited short runs, etc.

Note that minimum order quantities for all patch manufacturers are usually 50, but there are exceptions. Mostly you just pay more per patch because the set up fees are usually like $150 or more. So if you want 20 custom patches, you're going to pay a lot more per patch than it would be if you had 200 made.

As far as "awesomeness" with a patch company goes, it really depends on how you define that, honestly. Good communication, relatively quick turnaround time, competitive pricing, decent quality control and overall quality are the things I look for. Cost isn't necessarily the only factor but it doesn't hurt...! Good luck

 

LOL, I got a sample pop socket of that titty shaka with an order from a vendor once. They threw it in with some other things as what I guess is an "example" of the type of products they can make. I gave it away because I don't do pop sockets and despite other indications, consider myself a little more mature to just roll with cartoon boobies attached to my phone that I use around my kids, at work, etc. Stickers are different, though!
