This trip was a camping 4x4 trails and elk scouting trip with no hunting. We didn't have any long guns, just the normal CCWs. Next time regardless of intent, long guns are coming with. This dude spooked us bad.

Bulls are usually pretty chill no matter what. Just don’t mess around with the cow and calf combo. On the bright side, at least it was a small bull.

I don't know if I was very clear in my original joke post lol. It was 4 moose total together, travelling in a rut season mating group. First to walk through was a cow with a calf which is what set off my "Oh $hi+" alarm. They were followed by the bull who stood where you see him in the pictures for about 10 minutes waiting until the second cow came through and he followed all of them across the stream.

This was a scouting trip for elk season next year. So I'm no stranger to elk, bears, mountain lions, bobcats or even moose. But a whole mating group with a calf is a super rare thing for me.

Hopefully you have better luck with elk than I did last week. All I could track down were moose and mule deer even though I was surrounded by fresh elk tracks and droppings. Even had two black bears wandering around the area with us.

We moved farther West and found some promising locations. Seemed really crowded though this year. Joe Rogan might be messin with my hunts, gettin all these people out trying for some elk.
