    A few install notes:

Some instructions advise to remove fan shroud - I didnt and had no issues removing and replacing the new Water Inlet for the Oil Cooler Kit.

    Per the FSM, torque values
    Oil Cooler Union bolt - 50 ft/lbs
The 5 bolts holding Water Inlet Assembly - 80 in/lbs
    The 3 nuts attaching Water Neck/Thermostat - 80 in/lbs

I was due an oil change so I drained oil before removing the filter. I only point that out because you could do this install without draining all your oil, you'd only loose whatever is in the filter.

While draining the radiator and before I removed any of coolant lines or anything else, I installed the oil cooler and new filter - I didnt want to leave that exposed during the rest of the work.

I used the plastic pitcher in the first pic to catch additional fluid that will drain from the block and thermostat housing. I caught most of it. There's probably a block drain plug somewhere on the 1GRFE, but I didnt look for it.

Thermostat housing needs to come out before you can get the Inlet assembly out.

For re-install, replace the o-ring and dab it with a little soapy water, press in the new gasket where inlet assembly meets the water pump, then gently/slowly slide inlet assembly into place - you dont want the o-ring to slide/push out of its groove. Torque your bolts to spec as they will become much harder to get to as you put other stuff back on.

Next attach lower oil cooler hose before installing thermostat neck/housing. I dont think it would be possible with thermo neck installed.
Once lower hose is secure, attach thermostat neck. I had to use 1/4" drive short socket (10mm) with wobbler joint and 12" extension in order to get to the back bolt.
I put a little gasket sealer in the socket to hold the nut in the socket and get it started - its a tight spot.

After that, its just reattachng all the hoses. If you ever wanted to do Throttle body coolant bypass, now is a good time to do it - I decided against it.

Refill oil, if you drained it, or top off if you just removed filter.
Close radiator drain valve and refill coolant. I burped the hoses several times while filling before starting.
Crank it up, allow to reach operating temp, check for leaks, recheck collant level. Done.

No, nothing failed... it did not have the OEM oil cooler to begin with and I wanted to add it. I bought this truck new in Nov 2006 and over time I have been slowly transforming it into the one I should have bought way back when... what started as a Pre-runner base has become something quite different.

Yup, there they are. Draining the block would definitely make the job a little less messy.
