It is plug and play but lot of wires to sort...with help i figured ut out(regarding backup cam). It is wireless apple play. Oh and they sent the wrong harness to begin with so that set me back a few weeks. Hers a pic of the wire situation Like i said, no instructions so it felt hopeless but facebook groups helped alotCF73551A-2156-4CF3-880D-BE4DF687CF30.jpg

Absolutely, im in the process of figuring it out but there is a whole fb group dedicated to the t9 especially technicalities and when issues arise, there are tons of helpful members. Also there is a no questions returns policy when ordered from cartrim. The owner is alway there to answer questions..on fb

There's something called the Maestro I think that works with certain head units that allows you to still do all the settings and use your steering wheel buttons etc. In fact I think it can do even more since it can act as an obd2 reader as well, if I remember correctly.

I am going to give the Beat Sonic unit a go once they are back in stock. The resolution does not bother me.

Just as a FYI to everyone that was considering the 2020 new unit. It seems that Apple Carplay and Android Auto are wired only. I have been unable to get wireless to work for either option.

That was always known, wasn't it? The only car manufacturer I know of that supports wireless CP is BMW, and heard it is crap anyway with constant disconnects etc.

Maestro takes care of all that and adds more. It also allows you to change the steering wheel controls to do what you want them to do.

Had no idea it was wired. If that's the case might as well go after market and get the Alpine ILX-F309TCM. Plug and play plus you get to keep all your stock Tacoma functions... At least that's what it says.

Maybe it was, I don't know. I'm new to the world on carplay/AA since my old car didn't have either, actually it didn't have built in Bluetooth. I knew that wireless Android was pretty new so I'm not surprised that it didn't work, but I was under the impression that wireless carplay was more widespread, it looks like I was mistaken. Either way I figured I would put that out there since I just got a 2020 and found out it's wired only.

Even though I'm in my 30's, I remember my grandmother's TV being like this. I thought it was the best thing ever having the little knobs on front to switch between UHF and VHF and changing the channel by turning the two different knobs. I think that TV ended up at my parents house after my grandfather died and my grandma moved in with us. It probably hung around for another few years before it got changed to a HUGE CRT my uncle gave us to put in her room.

I haven't heard of anyone successfully ordering it or if they even will sell it to you yet, but someone looked up the part numbers and it was over $4000 I believe. Also no one has actually bought and tried to plug it in to a pre-2020 truck, so no guarantee it will even work or be plug-and-play.

That being said, considering the resale is so good on Tacomas, you're probably better off trading in your '19 for a '20 at that price, and then you also can get the upgraded seat, headlights, 360* camera, etc if you want.
