I have a set of signal power mirrors off a TRD model and I want to make the signals work on a SR5 model.

Does anyone have some input on making the signals work? I installed them and plugged them up but the signals aren't blinking.

    Thanks in Advance.

Thank you for the response as I assumed it was a simple plug and play option. Just take the old one out, and put the new one in. Apparently it's not and I'm not too savvy when it comes with wiring things.

Anyone else have any experience or input? If I can collect as much info as I can, I can tackle it this weekend.

    =)

Just curious, but why go through the effort?

You're going to have to tap into the turn signal

The SR5 has no signals on the side mirrors. These TRD ones do. It's a huge upgrade imho and worth the effort.

Instead of tapping a side marker, tap a DRL. :)

Does anyone have some pictures, a DIY guide to direct me? I'm a visual person and work well that way.

    Thanks in Advance.

As far as I know the mirror turn signals have a dimmed wire and a turn signal wire. When you turn your DRLs on the lights turn on but are dimmed. When you trigger your blinker it flashes brighter. You'll need to tap into the equivalent wires on your turn signal and then use a couple relays to get the logic right. You'll have to do this independently for each side. Also we can't help you unless you tell us exactly what you bought (did you just buy the bottom part? A full mirror?).

Several people (@MESO @DSIM @KTJO 4x4 ) are making plug and play connectors for different applications, hopefully some one will make one for this.

^A bit of both but I honestly thought it was plug and play. I purchased prior to research as a deal popped up and I snagged it. Now I'm here in the boat I am in and looking to be rescued.

The MESO turn signals are not the OEM ones. The OEM ones do not have a dimming feature. You'll need a wire for each side from the Main Body ECU connector 1A going back to the door mirror connector.

If you have already done the install on the doors, you've probably already done the hardest part of the labor. You just have some more research to do from here. From what I have read so far, you should be able to pick up the wiring at a connector close to the door. You can extend the wiring from there either to the 1A connector OR to the left / right headlight assemblies. In your research, you will need to learn where the connector is closest to the door. And what pin's numbers that need to be tapped for installing new wires. Once you find that information, you need to know where to purchase the pins. Then, make the decision where you want to go with the other end of the new wires. The 1A connector would be the best choice. Tapping the headlights isn't really a bad choice either.

Basically, your just running a new pair of wires probably through the firewall into the engine bay. And make the connections in the right location.

I mean what do they actually do? How is this an upgrade over non flashing mirrors? Cool factor? Not really sure I get it. Seems almost as silly as overhead cab lights.

Now if you put a night rider light in the front, that would be cool.

Are you on medication? The OP is installing door mirrors with turn signals from a TRD to an SR...

@ill ay please update us on your final results. I too have an SR5 and have been considering this. I'm just waiting to find an oem set. Good luck.

I’m going through something similar. I accidentally broke off my passenger side view mirror and accidentally ordered a blind spot monitoring mirror. I plugged the new mirror to the truck and now none of my passenger side turn signals work but the driver’s side turn signals all work. No blown fuses. I’m just going to order the correct side view mirror and swap them out.

I have already been there done that. I found the cheapest way was by aftermarket mirrors from 1A auto. There’s no signal wires on the oem connector in the door. Your new mirrors should have two extra wires for the turn signals. Maybe pink and white ?on mine the white wire was ground.
if you want you can tap into the signal wire and run it in the door to the pass/driver kick panel Your signal wire will tap into a small blue wire. I used red posi-taps. I’ll look for a few photos 2A59CAAC-19F3-4AE2-B284-97A05905C815.jpg
