Let me tell a brief tale of October 24th, 2019.

It started just like any other day, waking up to a dog licking my face right before my alarm went off at 5:30am.


Oh right, no one cares about this part. Fast forward.


2:00pm I get a call from Billy at Brute Force Fab, he has completed my bumper and bed cage a full month before expected and is ready for final payment and setting up shipping. Talk about a high! I've been looking at his stuff since the truck was just a twinkle in my eye and it was about to be real! In all honestly, everything they say about Billy is true. He is one of the nicest guys you'll ever talk to and by all accounts makes some bad ass armor at a really great price. I was stoked to take the truck to the next level...

Drive home, still on a high, wrestle with the dogs then head back out to get gas. Thanks, T-Mobile Tuesdays, for $0.10 off a gallon every week, you're the best. Drive to the local Shell, fill up, admire the truck while filling up and hit the road to go back home.

On the drive home, nothing is out of the ordinary. Still some rush hour traffic around Shelbyville, lots of stop and go. Unfortunately, at a red light, I was full stop and someone else was full go.

She tagged me pretty hard, didn't even see her coming.



I got shoved into the car in front of me, a little Civic with a newly crumpled trunk. The frame is very bent in the rear, as you might imagine. The bed was pushed up into the cab and creased the back of the cab. We will see what the adjuster says but it's not looking pretty.

So, for now, the build thread is on life support while the little Taco gets evaluated. If we lose this one, there will be another just like it. We will be back, stronger, more armor, and probably a different color because apparently white turns invisible at stop lights...

Everyone appears to be fine. My neck will be sore tomorrow, i can already feel it.

On a positive note, I now know my "tactical pen" with glass breaker works for breaking glass. I had to use it to extract the driver of the offending car from her vehicle. Her doors locked on impact and refused to open so we got her out through a window.

I used too much force breaking the window and that was the only injury I sustained. Some gashes from helping the woman who likely totaled my truck. Figures.

 

Glad your OK, truck is definitely totalled tho. Still, hope you got her out and punted her in the beaver.

There is definitely a "Curse of Bandido" vibe going on. But, maybe it was Xena that put the curse on us, she couldn't stop barking at @tacofort and me all day!
