I think this is stock on the newer models now. Why it wasn't done in 2016, I don't know. Very clean, finished look. BTW: The Toyota part number is 65409-04010, and its officially called the "rail assembly".

    Products used from Lowes:

The Krylon truck coating spray is so easy to apply. Great product. went right on with no drips or runs. The weather stripping I used is a little wider and thicker than the OEM version. Actually created a nice tight seal when I bolted the part back on. Used a T30 socket.

Looks great and addresses my issue!
    Couple questions...
You sand the rail prior to coating?
How many coats did you put on the rail?
You coat the whole tube and T or just the tube?

    Thank you!

    RTZX,
If you remove the rail, there is a strip that sits on the bed. You wont see it unless you remove teh rail.
I just sanded mine down and am getting ready to spray it. Stay tuned!

I lightly sanded it, and put 3 good solid coats due to the Texas sun. IT held really well to the sun and multiple car washes. That truck bed paint is pretty sturdy.

There was a little gasket along the back for vibration I guess.

You spray bed liner or you talking about the plastic bed that is the bed, no liner?

The step on the railing assembly to side rails doesn't work for me with the OEM Bed cover it needs to be at the same level.
I already have a slight difference there must be some weather stripping below. I will check it out later today I might be able to put the gasket in front where bolted. Also Lowes does not carry the paint but Walmart does picking some up today.

Yes. Remove the foam seal and just use some silicone sealant. It will even out the mismatch a bit.
