Anyone in here built a "Hammo-can" or other type of go-box? I'm thinking about putting one together with a TYT dual-bander. I need a little guidance on how to mount everything. I saw @webdr 's post, but I'd like a more detailed write-up.

Where did the thread go for classes in the bay area to earn a ham license?

My grandfather, father and uncle were all hams. Might be fun to join the ranks.

I'm in socal but there are plenty of results on the good ole Google engine to find the next testing sites near you. Also there are even apps to help you study as well as YouTube videos. I would also suggest finding a ham club near you. Most clubs that I've run into usually have very welcoming members who are more than happy to share their knowledge. However, be careful as most are diehard and, much like tacomaworld, they spend a good amount of money on ham radio setups and may inadvertently suggest you do the same. They mean well but just be sure to be upfront about your budget and desired use. You don't want to be like most newbies on TW and want a simple lift but end up being suggested an LT Tacoma with triple bypasses shock relocation in the rear lol

My guesses would be either make a shell you can slide inside you can premount everything to or epoxy things in. Ammo cans are pretty tight to try and jam a hand plus tools into.
